Fruit tend to defrost mushy. Which is fine if you're using them to stew up or something, but means you can't just defrost a plum and eat it like that. I tend to stew fruit first, then freeze it (technically, I guess I could save freezer-space by jarring it, but haven't done that before).

I know my aunt, who has a prolific plum tree, freezez plums every year to use in pies and sauces etc over winter. Not sure if you could eat just like fresh though.

With the stone fruit I'd more likely jar it in syrup. you can mashed avocado but not sure whole.
asparagus yes you can but you must par cook them first! so put into hot boiling water for like 3 or 4 minutes then place straight into ice cold water!
fruits like strawberry's, boysenberry's, blue berries, grapes (I cut in half and scrap the seeds out)
you can, I just put a whole lot into bag in the freezer for like smoothies etc. I just cut them into pieces to make it easier
Im not too sure about freezing stone fruit though. Id preserve them or make them into jam (you can freeze them if you are just gona make jam as they become quite mushy and watery)

Not sure about avocado or asparagus but I did have a go at preserving sone plums and peaches a few years ago. I am pretty sure I cooked the peaches and froze them in a sugar syrup. It definitely wasn't as straightforward as just freezing them. I also preserved them in jars with a sugar syrup. Very fiddly but they did taste nice in the middle of winter!

Okay, dumb question, but I'm keen to take advantage of the cheap summer produce and freeze some - esp. asparagus, avocado and stonefruit like peaches and nectarines. But do I need to do something to them first? And do avocadoes even freeze? Help!
