Is porridge for breakfast, Farex (7-9months one only) & pear for lunch & simple foods for dinner either mushed up or finger foods. We do not have any flavourings other than salt.

I don't add in anything else because he reacts by loosing consistency in the bowel movement area.

    Author: Mum_me
Subject: 30605
Posted: 21 December 2009 at 10:19pm

We have had very limited success with the introduction of purees to DD 7 months. She eats very little, and seems to have gut reactions to most of the foods we give her. She has confirmed allergies to soy, dairy and nuts and is following her specialists slow introduction to food guidelines (no wheat till 2, eggs and fish till 3, and nuts and shelfish till 5). I like the principles of BLW - in particular the baby choosing the food and quantity, and I wonder if this will agree with her more and reduce her gut reaction.

I am thinking of trying it, but am concerned that it might not work for an allergic child due to the lack of variety. I am also concerned that it might create issues later with her helping herself to food she is allergic to when my back is turned. (a bit of backgound, her 3yo brother also has severe allergies and always seemed to 'know' not to help himself to food. He never expected anything off our plates and you could leave food lying around and he wouldn't touch it as he knew to only eat at the table.)

She is also quite underweight (only 6kg), so I am not wanting to risk her falling further on the charts.

Gosh, what a ramble! What I really wanted to ask was:

Has anyone tried BLW with a child with multiple food allergies, and how did you find it?
