You use them to help support the baby's neck/head when they don't have good neck control in the beginning.  From what I could see on the Ergobaby website there's not a heck of a lot of difference between the original and the new one.<br /><br />Once Callum was "regular" newborn size, rather than a premmie, the Ergo was awesome.  And it's still awesome now that he's getting bigger too <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0">]]>

Just as well I posted this - I had never heard of them before!<br /><br />Is anyone able to make any recommendations about model or retailer?     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=18936">kiwikid</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 30137<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 26 November 2009 at 3:57am<br /><br />I had the BB Active which had additional support in the shoulders / back and it was fine until DS was about 4/5mths old, couldnt tell you what weight he was though probably slightly bigger than average.<br /><br />It was fine for the early days but I have heard since that the the weight distribution (baby hanging from their crotch) isnt the best.<br /><br />I regret that we had to stop using it when he got a bit bigger and had to use the buggy most of the time so if I were you I would look at your other options, so you get value for money.<br /><br />I have just brought an Ergo myself and DS is now 16mths, he might be a bit independent now for it since he's not used to being carried anymore but technically its fine up til 20kgs plus and if there is baby number 2 in the future we'll use it full time.<br /><br />I'll be selling my BB Active to help pay for the Ergo, I havent heard anyone who doesnt like their Ergo (except a friend that was under 5ft and her little boy kept smacking her in the chin with his head every time he looked around!!)  <br /><br />Hope that helps.<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by kiwikid</span>]]>

She had reflux too and lived in it for the first 6mths to a year.]]>

Other carriers (like the Ergo, which we have too and I <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley27.gif" border="0">) will allow you to carry your baby for much longer (ie till they're a toddler) and they're comfier for you and bubs too.<br /><br />My DS had reflux, our Ergo was a lifesaver and we're still using it now.  He's 11mo and around 11kg.]]>

They have info on all sorts of slings, and front and back packs for carrying babies around...and of course lots of pics of diff baby wearing gears too!  a really informative site that isnt trying to sell anybody anything, just inform.  There is also an interesting article on positioning of babies in their carriers which you may find helpful.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.slingbabies.co.nz/Site/Home.ashx" target="_blank">slingbabies link</a><br /><br />oh and 6 mths isnt too old to be carried.
