My sis has three kiddies very close together in age. First had moderate reflux, second had chronic reflux and third was a dream baby. So maybe three is the magic number Tastic - you might be in luck this time around

Aidan had it bad too, was diagnosed in hospital

L is getting worse not better

Meds have never 'sorted' it for us. Even the paed seems to just say- 'well hang in there'
I have asked about changing meds but they all want to let him grow out of it and say- look at how happy and healthy he is... Im like- yeah well look at ME!!!!! do I look Happy and Healthy?????

Yep, meds worked 100% for lil miss, she was completely asymptomatic while on Losec. She was on the highest dose for her weight tho, and we had monthly appointments with the paediatrician to check her progress.

And I agree about it being hereditary. Yep - no dairy here. Made the mistake of having some the other day and it was NOT a pleasant evening. Gaviscon at every feed cause stupid doctor won't give us anything stronger until Ryan is 15 weeks old and that seems to only be because we have relatives coming to visit from the States.

Soooo....they don't have to listen to a screaming baby in pain, but it's fine for me to??

me going off dairy and giving cian infant gaviscon at every feed definately helped - but didn't clear it up. Im terrified of it.... and esp if I had refluxy twins!!!! Maya- wow I feel for ya.

(listening to L screaming now- 6mths old)

L was 2 weeks overdue and had to be pulled out- deff not a premmie.

Did meds actually help anyone???? did it actually 'clear up' the reflux???

Oh, my reflux in my pregnancies was really bad too... worse with Ollie, I was on ranitidine for the whole pregnancy. But he still wasn't refluxy at all.

I think you just have to take your chances if you want another one. Chloe had horrible reflux, bringing up fountains of milk just about every feed and in between and screaming all the time. She was a terrible feeder as well and hated breastfeeding. When I got pregnant again when she was only 4 months old I had a mental breakdown! I didn't want anymore kids after dealing with Chloe!!

BUT Ollie has been a dream baby. He only spilt occasionally, like normal babies do, and was contented and happy. He was so easy, I really loved it! And we didn't have any feeding issues with him.

And he is a boy, and was born a few weeks earlier than Chloe was.

thats interesting about reflux being herediatry as i have never had it...and i never had heartburn or anything like that while pregnant either.

Maya didn't have reflux at all, the next three all had it quite severely.

The big difference was that with the gremlins, we didn't really know what we were dealing with - I felt quite overwhelmed and they weren't on the right doses of meds etc. so the first few months with them were pretty traumatic (they once screamed for 20 out of 24 hours non-stop between them ).

So when lil miss was born, and started showing reflux signs at around 3 weeks, I took a really proactive approach - took her to a paediatrician who specialises in reflux, made sure she was on the right dose of Losec for her weight and adjusted it as she grew, and experimented with adjusting my diet. Premmies are more likely to have reflux so if bubs #2 gets closer to term then chances might greatly reduce.

I had 2 reflux babies (5 weeks prem), 1 was wayyyyy worse than the other. Thankfully a diet change for me when BFing was all I needed.

Keira had quite bad reflux, it was horrible. Maddi never ever had a problem with it at all. She seemed so easy compared to Keira and I finally realised what it was like to have a normal baby. They do say it's more likely, and I heard it was more common in boys - therefore if you first have a girl with reflux, chances are very strong that the next will have it, particularly if it's a boy.

I will quite happily join the "terrified to have another baby" group!! But I can't imagine any baby giving me as a hard a time as Jackson did. Edited to say:  there is a reason why there will be a 3 year age gap in our family.... the first year with DS  I was incredulous that anyone would/could voluntarily put themselves through that again.

Cory is out 2nd and although we didnt know it...Rhiannon had reflux, but she out grew it pretty quickly.

Unfortuntley with all the reading ive done, it does say you are more than likely to have another child with reflux if your first has reflux and 95% more likely if your first is a girl....(although i could be wrong and would love to be wrong).

I'm just curious from those of you with more than 1 child and who have at least 1 reflux baby: Did anyone get 2 reflux babies in a row? And if so - was the reflux just as severe? And was there a history of reflux in your family?

I think KitKat on here is another momma who is scared to have another one in case she gets another screaming monster...
