Author: kiwisj
Subject: 30000
Posted: 19 November 2009 at 1:47pm

I'd get the Ergo (big fan here!) But if you have a Maclaren I wouldn't stress too much about taking it as well. You should be allowed to take it right up to the gate and they will have it waiting for you when you disembark as well. On Air NZ they will let you bring an umbrella stroller on the plane if it will fit in the overhead compartment (though I wouldn't bother myself as it's just one more thing to put up there!).

I found wearing C when I was travelling by myself was awesome as it left my hands free to grab stuff. However in saying that - when I arrived in Chch airport there was a lady waiting for me who carried all my hand luggage, which left me free to deal with C, and then escorted me through immigration (you get to queue jump with a baby) and even helped get my luggage off the belt AND took me out to meet my uncle and made sure we were all right getting everything to the car!! Kudos to Chch Airport (and/or Singapore Airlines, I've never found out who actually organised it).

For 3 months in Sydney you're probably going to want a stroller, so I'd definitely take your Maclaren, it'll be light enough

The best thing I found was the ergo as it folds up really small you don't need help putting it on and it is still comfortable to carry a toddler with. I would send your stroller in the hold cause they are never at the gates like they say they will be and sometimes if they are you have to walk abit to find them anyway. There is alot of walking in the airports between planes so with reins you will proberly end up having to carry him or drag him along at a snalls pace. I have done the trip 3 times now at the different ages and have learnt the hard way to limit the hand lugage to one bag if you are going the ergo route get one on wheels
