Hi we just went and I OVER packed but better to over pack than under pack right?

For Lily I had her capsule and pram, tbh we used the pram once and would have been better off just taking the front pack!

I had enough clothes for her for a week even though we were only gone for 4 days (3 nights). I was going to take towels but we staying in motels so didn't bother.

We wanted to take her play gym or bouncer but didn't have enough space but she was more than happy to just have a blanket to lay on with a few little toys like a soft chime ball, a soft baby book and a rattle.

We borrowed a port-a-cot which she was also happy to play in.

We had her nappy bag too and we took 1 pack of nappies too.

I took 2 sets of sheets for the portacot, 2 quilts, a woolen aircell blanket plus 2 of her normal blankets and her wrap.

We stayed in 2 different motels and were lucky that one of them which we stayed at for 2 nights had a heater which they put on for us before we arrived and if was on a timer and thermostat so was great, the other place didn't have this - brr!

We also took her monitor which was great! Whenever we go to see family down country (7hrs from us) we throw the whole change mat (and a towel) onto the back seat for changing baby when we stop. Its so handy to have a changing mat when you are away too, that way you arent worried about messing up someones towels etc.

definately plastic bags - for dirty washing, nappies, rubbish, anything!

Camera!

Any creams/lotions/washing stuff u use just for bubs

We went down to Nelson the other week to stay with the IL's, I couldn't take the rocker or play gym so took a couple of large muslins to pop on the floor so DD could wriggle about etc.  I had forgotten they had wooden flooring and i could just pop the muslins in the wash if she had a little spill on them. 

 

If your flying ANZ allow you to take a car seat and push chair for free on top of your baggae allowance and your buba gets their own allowance too! I didn't know this till someone said!

 

If your driving and have minimal space maybe just take a sling/front pack instead of a push chair?

 

DD is too big for the moses basket so IL's borrowed a carry cot from a friend and DD slept in that wherever we went (afternoon naps etc).

 

I also took the monitor as DD slept in a room downstairs and their living room was upstairs and i couldn't hear her crying from up there so it was well worth taking. Depends on where your staying though.

nappy bags
instant hand sanitizer - you can get small dettol ones at the supermarket
bum cream (a small sample if you have one)
use any sample packets you have been given eg. samples of washing powder, baby wash/lotion/shampoo
dishwashing liquid & bottle brush (if you are going somewhere that won't have them)
anything that helps your baby get to sleep eg. blankie, CD with white noise/lullaby music or something familiar from home
don't forget jackets, hats and mittens
sleep sacks are great for travelling

I took a floor rug with us - people who don't have kids get a bit grossed out by spills on the carpet, and if when we stopped for a feed on the journey I'd let her have some tummy time under a tree so we could stretch our legs and change her without having to hunt for a child friendly public loo.
