I read DS all sorts of books, especially ones with lots of rhyme and rhythm, even if the language is quite complex. Little people love the sound of your voice, and it's great to expose them to neat language right from the beginning (ex teacher speaks...) <br /><br />Some of our faves are The Gruffalo & The Gruffalo's Child, The Terrible Plop, and a lovely book called Pearl Barley & Charlie Parsley. We have lots of board/cloth books for him to read to himself & munch on too <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> ]]>

The ones Im reading at the moment are Usborne Farmyard Tales - The little book of Farmyard Tales, Fisher Price, Explore the Rainforest and Nursery Rhymes (sorry cant remember the Author). For christmas we've got him 4 Dr Suess and 4 Peter Rabbit books.]]>

They're from Whitcoulls and work in age ranges. He's got a couple of the newborn - 6 months ones and just stares at them constantly. I'd give you ours, but they have had such vigorous "reading" that they really are in no shape to be handed on..  Nana bought them from the warehouse and whitcoulls I think.  all under $10.<br /><br />Also, at this stage, it really isn't WHAT you read, it's just spending that time.]]>

They were approx $3 - $5 and they are also great to put on the floor for them to look at as they stand up and the books are so small you don't have to worry about them falling over onto your wee babies.<br /><br />At 10 months old she now loves books and when we read stories at night time, she turns the pages and even cries when they are finished!]]>

He likes ones that rhymes and he usually sings them to him LOL. <br /><br />During the day we might "read" a book or 2 and its his cloth books with just one word on each page. But the books that I read WITH her were very basic - a single word, with simple picture, on a plain background. One image per page.<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Using everyday words/images helps - bottle, teddy, cot, dog, book etc. If you can show them the real life thing they soon learn to associate.]]>
