Mocka also do a version(cheaper) of this balance bike and have a video of a wee girl playing around on one. As a biking household we are going to definately look into one of these later on. I think it makes sense to get balance first before adding pedals.

Emz, i got one from Farmers. I think it was $50-60. It def wasn't more than that and Mac loves it. It has the removeable handle thing at the back so you can push him round. He is quite short in the legs so can only just reach the pedals but we often use it to push him round.

G2R seem to be for older kids, and apparently there are none left in Chch anyway (according to farmers yesterday as I overheard a lady asking about more when she bought the display model).

I think I've found a 2nd hand triang (old style looking) with trailer. Our toy library's trikes are always out which is a pain. Hmm can't believe trikes are so expensive, am a bit worried now as we have a $50 limit on bdays and xmas and already have xmas sorted so can't do a joint pressie. Oh well I'm sure TM will be kind at some point. Join your local toy library, hopefully they will have a few different trikes so you can try before you buy.

We borrowed a Kettler one - they are expensive but fantastic quality and have a handle on the back so adult can push as well. If I was going to buy one that's what I'd get.

triang- around $150. I must admit though, we have two trikes, one triang and one kettler-type from pedal pushers - $190. the triang gets thrashed and is still in great condition and going strong. the kettler-type one is in great condition, but taine doesn't like it as much....we plan to sell on trademe in a few months.

The triang trikes are awesome Emz, really sturdy and well made, not sure about the price though?  Z got given one for his 2nd birthday and its still going strong for his bros to use, you can also get trailers for them

Jaycee the G2R is on special at farmers for $50 down from $180.  We bought Michaela a G2R last Christmas - we love it!

Yeah we looked at the warehouse ones but they just didnt' seem as sturdy as the ones we had as kids (and they were cheap ones lol)

Don't buy the kitset ones from the Warehouse! I got Sam one with Thomas the Tank Engine on it over six months ago and the physics of it are awful, no amount of pushing on those pedals can he get them to turn around and he is big for his age and strong. I think it's the angle that they are on. I'm not spending heaps, less than $50 on special is good as I just can't justify the expense. I've looked on TM but there's bugger all 2nd hand ones in our area that are any good.
