My son's night sleeps improved dramatically when he got his own room after we moved house, he's such a light sleeper I think we were waking him up all the time without realising. He sleeps through for a few nights in a row then wakes once for a few nights, not really sure what's causing that pattern but I can't complain, it's so much easier than getting up three or four times a night.

I'm also due in January, hopefully it'll be easier to have a summer baby...I remember being so worried about my son getting cold that we pretty much kept him wrapped all the time and had the heater in his room running all day and night for a long time.

'Normal' actually has a big range, so try not to worry - he'll get there when he's ready. I'm thankful that C's day sleeps are good, though he still wakes at least once in the early hours of the morning for a feed. I do notice that when he's had a really good dinner, he lasts much longer, so I'm confident he's waking because he's hungry.

Yep I still b/feed it's sooo much easier. When I head back to work at the end of June he'll have a bottle of formula during the day, but I'll keep up the b/feeding morning and night.

Congrats on your pregnancy, when are you due? I'm due at the end of January and there are a couple of other ladies who are also preggy again at the moment. I think Biddy is due first. I'm thankful that so far (knock on wood) ms has been pretty much non-existant

I mostly just like to see where everyone else is at and compare to my own child to make sure we're keeping up since I don't know anyone with young children. I'm not a fan of Facebook, I like my anonymity...

Anyway, my son is super healthy and doing great, not walking yet for some reason but he takes a few steps by himself every once in a while when he can be bothered. He's been a difficult baby since the beginning, doesn't like being left by himself most of the time and doesn't sleep while we're out so it's been hard to get things done during the day. I'm pregnant again and have trouble changing his nappy without having a gagging fit, but I'm looking forward to my son having a sibling to play with eventually.

Anyone else's children not walking yet? Or have nap/sleep issues? Is anyone still breastfeeding?

Just had a quick read through and now I can't remember who said what! But congrats to those who are pregnant again and good luck to those TTC. Bex - Koby is such a good looking boy and walking!!!

We've had a busy time lately, we sold our house, bought a new one and then right before we moved we all got the most awful gastro bug. Baby and I were sick for a week and both lost heaps of weight. It was so hard trying to keep myself hydrated enough to BF him as he was off his food too. Thankfully, we're all good now and almost unpacked in the new house. It is SO nice to have the children in their own rooms and lots of extra space. Alex is doing great, he's a cheeky monkey, full of giggles and smiles, he just melts my heart. He's been crawling for a while now and today he learned how to climb the stairs and promptly fell down 3 stairs So the stair gate is up!

Well, it's chilly in Auckland tonight so I hope everyone is rugged up brrrrr

Layne is still quite mashed, hes great with bread and some finger foods, I think I'm holding back a bit always worried about the choking. He is very particular and hates all the organic baby food! Depending on what we ar ehvaing for dinner I just puree his a little down or make a mix of potato and kumara or pumpkin with those watties create sauces.

Wow 7 teeth! Layne has 5 and at this stage doesn't seem to cutting his 6th one yet.

Exciting about TTC Daena!

Can't believe Layne is 1 in less than 3 months!

I would be keen on the birthday meet up, not entirely sure whether I will make it though. Sorry to hear about the PND but glad you've had the support and help.

I am not 100% sure but I don't know whether I will have anymore children after this one is born. I will probably change my mind when bubs is 5 months old againt though. I will just wait and see how I go though. I just don't know if I can got through the terrifying first 12 weeks and the tiredness and all the paranoia again. It all sounds stupid I know but its such an emotional 9 months and then some once baby is here.

Layne is doing great. Hes so busy and into everything. He likes to stand and walk around the furniture and use his trolly to walk with. He tries to stand inaided but falls. He climbs the TV and dvd rack and when we tell him off he usually just turns round and smiles!!
The majority of the time he is well but has now had bronchiolitis 4 times and last week was hospitilised with it, poor boy was struggling so much to breath. He is now pretty much back to his happy self and I am glad to be home.
He has alot of hair and DH now wants to chop it off so he looks like a boy! At the hospital last week 3 people were convinced he was a girl! lol.

Thinking of you Melina and hope your doing ok!

We are off to Raro in may for a holiday and wedding, can't wait!

We think Layne is trying to day dog and tractor (the only words Ben has been teaching him). He knows exactly what they are.
If we say dog he looks out the door and sees Jade, our border collie and say DDDDDDD.
And he has a picture of a tractor in his room and he looks at it when you say tractor and says TTTTTTT
I know very minor but stil exciting.
He says daddaddad alot and only says mum when hes upset and crawls to me...feel quite special.

Wow sorry for the mamouth of a post!
Great to read up on everyone!

Author: flyingmum
Subject: 29009
Posted: 19 March 2011 at 7:16pm

Hi guys!

I'm way of the loop but have finally gotten my act together and managed to log on :) We are living in Tonga now (moved here around August last year) and Kahlei is thriving. She's definitely a commando crawler - hard to keep up with her! and this last week she started standing on her own which was exciting!

I've been working since Kahlei was 3 months old and DH has been a wonderful stay at home parent. It's great here in Tonga because it's only 10 mins from work to home so we meet for lunch everyday and I get home at 5.30pm in time to bath her, give her dinner and put her down. The weekends are my absolute favourite part of the week though as it's just family time so we get to hang out at the pool or go to the beach just the three of us.

It hasn't always been easy though and I totally wouldn't put myself through the whole having a baby; moving country; house; starting a new job thing again lol! Talk about a learning curve. When baby was around 4 months I started suffering from PND and went to see a GP who was fantastic, really understanding. Since then I've been taking medication which has been a huge help. Before going through this I definitely had no idea what PND meant and how it presented itself....am so grateful for all of the support I've received though and especially for my gorgeous little girl and loving husband.

Anyway it's great to be back in touch and I'm looking forward to logging in more regularly to see how you are all doing.

Sarah - what fabulous news!! A huge congrats to you!

and Daena, I cant wait to see Gia when we move back to nz! it just seems like yesterday that we were at birthcare doing that class!

hope everyone has a great weekend! x

Leilani

It was a little hard right at the start, but I'm glad we had them close together as for the most part they get on so well. I hope it's a quick journey for you!

Lol Jess, I'm kind of the same. Part of me would love another, but more often than not, I'm happy with the kids I've got. I brought the subject up with DH a month or so ago and he surprised me by saying he wasn't sure if we've finished - I totally expected him to say, 'NO MORE!!!!', lol. So I told him to please make up his mind by our sons birthday's so that I could mentally 'move on'

Caleb is doing great, he's such a sweetheart and extra cute (of course I'm allowed to say that, I'm his Mumma ). He is super speedy at crawling and loves to stand. He has discovered that he can climb stairs - which at our house is quite dangerous as they are very steep - so I have to make sure the downstairs door is closed when we are down there. He loves it when I am working out, especially doing abs on the floor. As soon as I am on my back, he crawls over and lies down on top of me and snuggles into my boobs

Hope everyone else is doing well xx

Thinking of you, so devastating to watch! Can't comprehend this has happened in NZ!

Melina-Big hugs to you hun, can't begin to imagine how hard it must be for you!

Bex- Poor Koby! That sounds nasty! And wow with him nearly walking.

That sucks that your job wont let you go back part time! Sounding naive, I actually didn't know they could do that. Good luck with your job hunting hun!

Jessiesmum-Hope the move goes/went well.

Layne is now pulling himself to stand and there is no point in using his safe-t-sleep anymore as he either gets out of it or manages to roll over in it and sleep on his belly or attempt to crawl around his cot.
He is also a complete pain to change and dress. It now takes me and DH to change and dress him! He wont stay still at all. We don't bath him much anymore as all he does is try to stand up so showers seem easier now.
Hes also good at throwing temper tantrums already! I think we are in for alot of trouble! He arches his back and throws himself backwards and then cries, hes so independent and stubborn!
But he ofcorse is still so gorgeous!

Baby is good too. We had a dating scan 2 weeks ago and all was perfect and today was our first MW appointment and we heard the FHB at 170bpm so I was so very relieved! We didn't hear Layne's heartbeat that early. We have our NT scan on the 7th March. Can't believe I am going to go through labour again!

Finding a new job now two days a week though should be good - not too sure what's out there these days.

Today Koby was trying to climb around the boys table, and unbalanced himself cutting up his gum, and his lip and knocking his head. His poor gum bled for a long time, and now we can see one of the front teeth that is yet to cut. I was so upset. He just cried and cried. I have to take him to the dentist so they can xray it, as my brothers gf said it could have killed the root. Poor wee bubba.

Otherwise, he is all go, still trying to get the balance thing going, he's worked out walking whilst holding. scary!!

So great to hear what all the bubbas are up to.
Evie started commando crawling just before Christmas. Now she gets up on her hands and knees and rocks for a bit before dropping her belly and pulling herself around, so I'm not sure if she will ever bother with a 'proper' crawl.

We spent the New Year in USA with hubby's family. Evie was a trooper with the 33 hour travel there, and 26 hours home all without any major meltdowns. She cut her first 2 teeth while we were away and mastered sitting up unaided so it was great that the grandparents got to see some of her 'firsts'.

Funny to read the different reactions some of your cats are having. Mine are not at all amused now that Evie is moving. One cat in particular can get quite nasty, and Evie has a tendancy to back her into a corner, so we have to be extra vigilent to make sure kitty always has an escape route!

Take care all!

I was completely in denial when I went back to work with Ollie and left everything to the last minute (i.e. organising care) I think I was trying to sabotage it, though fortunately (?) it all worked out. It's great that your Mum can help out. Mine looked after my 2 for 2 days a week for a few months and it really strengthened their bond.

Does G use a sippy cup? You could use that to give her milk and completely bypass the bottle. My older 2 were only 5 months when I returned to work so I did use a bottle, but with C I'm just planning on giving him a sippy cup.

I'm putting together a proposal to change to 30 hours a week. 40 hrs with 2 kids was hard, I can't begin to imagine what it would be like with 3 kids and DH & I both working One of my workmates has just gone to 30hrs, and apparently my work is pretty good about flexible/parttime hours for returning parents. Wish me luck!

Still hard to believe in less than 8 months I will have 2 under 2.
No MS yet a little nausea but nothing major just making me feel yuck all the time and constant tiredness. To be honest though the thought of going through labour again is absolutely terrifying and mine was drama free. Maybe its just all a little to fresh and I can remember the pain and bleeding! lol
Tink-my early scan in on the 7th Feb, feels so far away...it also feels like it has taken forever to get to 6 weeks!

Layne still isn't crawling but isn't far away and is putting himself into a sitting position from his tummy. Hes going backwards and is exploring. Hes also trying to pull himself up and slides off us on purpose when we are sitting on a chair just so he can stand. He tries to do to much at once I think. He still doesn't roll completely over just onto his tummy.
I love it when he chats away he sounds so cute! Love his 'dadadadadad' chatter. He is such a happy boy!

We are still battling with his water here, started putting a little glucose in his water just to get some into him. Was a bigger deal this week as he decided to refuse his lunch time bottle and not finishing his dinner time one so has been getting under the mimimum recommended amount of milk/formula.

Tink-my cousin used to chew on his cot so his parents lined it with paprika so he wouldn't do it and it turned out he liked it even more when it was spicey!

Tanya sorry to hear you are struggling with solids!
Hope its improving.

Lol at your lurker comment Daphne!

Jess3- Layne is the same with the cat, he could be getting grumpy and then he sees the cat and is a completely different child! The cat has suddenly found the Layne moves and grabs so he has stopped coming back. Its funny though if I am doing washing or something and layne is starting to cry the cat always comes and finds me.

Must go, have been slack with feeding myself so should go find something for lunch and start dinner.

Hope you all have a lovely evening. I can not believe how fast our babies are growing!

My boss recently used it for herself and daughter on a rash type thing they both get after eating to much summer fruit and it worked wonders! being an ointment it has barrier action as well. A little goes a long way!

Bubs is growing one of his top teeth at the mo (two bottom have come thru over christmas) and is a bit grumpy/temp/pukey with it. stink!
No crawling her yet. Lots of rocking, especially in his cot because the backboard is good leverage!

Ollie is about 10kg at 6 and a half months! But then he did start off at 9lb 4oz. When i took him to plunket for the 5 month check he was just under 10 and she said if he was any lighter he would be underweight! he's 62cm long! Its all relative!

keep well ladies!

I hope the nausea stays away. I don't think mine kicked in until 6 weeks but every pregnancy is different so hope you are feeling good.

Bex - Koby is a legend! He must be very motivated to catch up to his brothers.

Mummydee - great to have you back

Well, Alex is doing great. He's starting to get a bit tight in his 6-12 mo clothes so I guess he's getting enough to eat but he's not brilliant with solids. I started him a bit earlier than DD but he's taking a lot longer to get up to speed. Some meals he is barely interested but he's a happy chap so not going to worry. He just started to commando crawl.. I think that's what you call it. He looks like a caterpillar creeping along the floor but he's getting so quick. So off to Mitre 10 to get a gate for the ranch slider cos he kept escaping to the garden Not sitting very well, he keeps getting back on his tum to take off.

Night times are better most of the time but we still get some disrupted nights. Thankfully he's still good during the day.. touch wood!

Well must go. It is HOT tonight!

I agree with Bex as long as he is growing (sometimes they grow in height rather than weight) and happy and healthy he should be fine. Though it is so hard not to worry! Ollie sat pretty much on or above the 50th percentile all the time so I never worried about him. However Lilia went off the charts so I worried about her all the time (still do - especially when at 2.5yo she was being mistaken for 4 & 5 yos!!). Caleb's growth slowed right down at 1 point and we were on monthly visits so I was worrying about him too! He is now following a different line on the graph (he's halfway between the 15th & 50th percentiles). I tell ya, as a Mum, you'll always have something to worry about

Eek Bex, Koby's trying to stand!!

Edited by mummydee

I was sweet until about 7 weeks then was miserable until 14 with my little girl.

Can't believe we have crawlers already. Our little one is rolling all over the place atm. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth, but tends to roll places more as its easier.

She has 2 teeth now - that was a bit of a nightmare time - so, so, so clingy. Was a bummer cos we had everyone around for xmas and she wouldn't go to any of them.

Dzinergirl - Jasmine weighs 7.95 kg and is 6 months and a half months, but she is a little budda baby. My midwife told me that the graphs in the well child books are based on formula fed babies, and not to take too much notice of them. It's nice to have some sort of range of where they might be though. Could you ask your plunket nurse? Also, I know what you mean about enough milk/solids/water. We try not to worry about it unless she is unsettled, or behaving out of character.

Jasmine has discovered the cat and is absolutely fascinated by him, she pulls out handfuls of fur and the silly cat keeps coming back for more. She has also discovered squealing, and is driving us around the bend with that! She is still an absolute delight though, and I seriously can't remember life without her!

Hope you are all well and enjoying these summer days

Quite excited!
Daena I am due the 15th September so Layne will be 15 months old :)
I want to have the same midwife I had with Layne but she is away on holiday until the start of feb so I will just wait. Hows your beautiful little girl doing? Oh and where did you get your toy chest from? Ben keeps telling me he will build one but I am yet to see any progress.
Bex- Maybe that could be the reason I don't feel pregnant, I remember I felt so horrible with the nausea when pregnant with Layne that I told Ben I was never having another baby! lol
saw my normal and NICE doctor today and all confirmed, bloods taken and even an early scan booked! I didn't get one of them with Layne.

Crawling- Layne now flips himself over when he tries to move, and he sounds like what Koby used to do, gets so upset after rocking and moving legs but can't get to what he wants! Bet Koby is all over the place?!
He will still only roll onto his tummy can't get off and is too stubborn to learn I think!
Had to put the safe-t-sleep back onto his bed as he was rolling onto his tummy during his sleep and getting so upset once he woke up. Once hes awake though he can pull the safe-t-sleep apart to get out of!

Layne is a little chatter box, always has been and today he was sitting on me and saying ta ta ta ta ta...I think it was a T and D but am not sure, was so cute though :)

Does anyone have trouble feeding them water? Layne will only drink water out of a pump bottle! Doesn''t matter if its the same water in his sipper cup or his drink bottle! So he either gets drenched or we just give him ice in a mesh feeder. Hes fussy with his formula and because of the heat I get so paraniod about his fluid intake,

How was your first day back at work Bex? (saw it on fb )
and yours Abbey?

Well, my 'job' isn't really a job as in sitting in an office......i went back to my nanny job which is great but it is out of the house three days a week and two other children! I've certainly loved not having to be anywhere or having to o anything!! oh well, the bank balance appreciates it!!

Ollie is doing the rocking thing too. and chopping his way thru food! but bugger - feed him a couple cans because it was easier at the time and now he turns his nose up at my food. grrr! so doing a half and half mix at them moment and he seems to do okay.

So bloomin hot!! deff been spending time in the pool over the last couple of days to keep cool.

Congrates Biddy! i'd say you probably are pregnant! you are more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. Make the most of 'not' feeling pregnant just incase!! te he.

And happy new year everyone! we were tucked up in bed by about 10.30pm! i've never really been a new years party person so meh. But i forget (just like i do every year) how noisy midnight is with all the fireworks that go off!!! And two of my sister in laws were partying hard in New York so i'm sure they would have made up for us old farts!!

oh well...mother in law is here so better go and be nice.........snore.

    Author: Biddy
Subject: 29009
Posted: 08 January 2011 at 4:23pm

Afternoon mummies!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I have some news that I want to get off my chest, but don't feel ready to join another thread just yet.
It looks as though Ben and I are expecting again! I did a HPT on Thursday morning and it was positive, was kind of a shock even though we were planning we only tried twice last month lol so I expected a negative but thought I would test anyway instead of waiting round for AF.
We then went to the doctor, who was an absolute ass! and he brushed me off and told me to re-test in a week and then he would just have to assume I was pregnant! That was after he asked me why I had done a test in the first place, as though I don't have a right to do it. .
So when I got home I did another one that too was positive and did another one this morning and again positive. I am happy and excited but incredibly paranoid as I have NO pregnancy symptoms at all this time round and just feel I need it confirmed by a doctor.

Sorry about the vent, I can't talk to anyone else as we will wait until 12 weeks to tell family and friends again.

I am feeling better since last time I was on here, Thank you :). With xmas and new years DH has been home alot more and we are taking a week off in Feb, but not sure where we are going....just far away from the farm!

Hugs to you Cheryl and Bex on the night waking!
Glad Gia is now sleeping for you Daena!

I can't believe how fast the last 7 months have gone. And go Koby on crawling! Layne isn't far off but just wont move his arms, will rock and hop around and move his legs. I want him to crawl but I don't at the same time lol.

Ohhh camping sounds like fun! Definitely something i would love to do with our family.

Bex, Layne is the same with his food, his dinner consists of his formula followed by a can of food and a jar of custard and he gets upset at breakfast when hes finished his muesli. I am always paraniod that I will feed his too much but hes happy and he wants it. DH now puts a little on his high chair tray and he plays with it while DH feeds him, that way he doesn't hold onto the bowel with both hands.

Must go.

Hope you are all enjoying the weather!

x

Also using his fresh food feeder, bananas are a huge hit.

We've been taking Koby swimming a bit in the school pool, he really loves it, and this year the twins are loving it too. I have been on FB seeing everyones pics and updates though. I hope everyone and their bubs are doing well

I can't believe we're at the 7 month mark and fast approaching 8 months! Far out

Noah is almost at the crawling stage but not yet thank goodness, hopefully not till after the tree goes down this weekend (yeah slack aren't we ) He is rocking on his hands and knees and can move his arms forward a bit but then his legs shoot out from under him LOL

Sleepwise - things suck!!! He is a terror to get to sleep during the day (for me anyway, goes down fine for his grandmas ) AND at night. He's waking up 2-3 times a night now 11/12, 2/3 and 4/5. At least 1 of those times he is genuinely hungry though so that's fine but I don't know what is causing the other times although he is still in the gentle motions bassinet as we haven't been able to afford a mattress for his cot, we still can't but we are going to put it onto the already horrible CC bill ) BUT I think it the movement of the bassinet might be giving him a fright now seeing as he moves so much in his sleep. I guess we'll see in the weekend.

We went camping and it was awesome to see Noah experience the beach and ocean etc but the whole sleep thing stressed me out and I came to hate nighttime..still do! Anyone else attempt camping?

Did anyone elses families go nuts with presents for the bubs? DH's parents went crazy and we now have toys coming out our ears! I'll upload a pic of the Xmas tree - seriously the presents (not just from them and not all of them were for Noah but pretty close!) took up 1/2 the floor space

Question - how much food is everyone's little ones eating now?

It is sooo muggy today!

I hope you are feeling a little better and if not then I'm sure that you will soon. I wish we lived closer, Koby and I would visit you!!
Like Daena says, do you have plunket coffee groups or Mainly Music? It is very hard being isolated and being a first time mummy. Great sleeping Layne! And the wooden blocks idea sounds great.

Hi Andrea!
Scooters are AWESOME! Joel loves his, he has worn it out and needs a new one now. It lasted about 3 years though so can't complain. It is very hot lately at night, too muggy. The kids don't want to sleep at night... argh!

Hi Aydee!
What is a magic ball? Good to hear how well Ashley is doing!

Daena, omg, all of your hair gone? That sounds wonderful although won't that be different for you?
Go the crawler, Koby is at that stage too :)

Well, we have just moved house. We finally have 4 bedrooms, our room finally is OUR room, and Koby has slept every night all the way through now he by himself.
The boys have a nice big back yard for playing, and we will have my family over for Christmas Eve bbq which will be nice!

Koby was chosen to be one of 3 babies photographed for the Eco Store Baby Range, so we can't wait to see his pics on the products when they are released, I think it would be early next year. He had so much fun at his photo shoot! I was so proud.

Joel has a new baby sister, so he is looking forward to meeting her boxing day. and Luke and Zavier have learnt to talk in HUGE sentences and are little know it alls lately. So it's all fun and games in our house.

Hope you are all well. I'm so excited about this being Koby's first Christmas!
