Ashley is 7 weeks today. She usually stays up 30mins to 1 hour max. In the early afternoon she just wakes to feed then goes straight back down so is only up about 20mins. I find the perfect moment to get her into bed is when she goes very still and starts to gaze off. At that point she goes to sleep without a yell.

If your little one is happy however and still napping well and doing good stretches overnight then keep doing what you are doing...don't fix it if it ain't broke! Ben is 12wks and will only last about 1/2hr before showing tired signs although he is otfen up longer if I get caught up with Jack and he still stays relatively happy.
Every baby is different so as long as you are aware of when they are showing tired signs then it doesn't really matter how long they are up for. Jake was up for a max of 50mins at that age, Morgan an hour - Plunket say 1 hour max I'm sure. Elias lasts an hour .. an hour and a half max (that includes the feed, change and playtime).

how long do you allow your bubs to stay awake during the day between sleeps ??

plunket advice was only 1 n half hours at a time and then back to bed..

he is content, happy and smiling so i figure why try to get him to sleep when hes not even tired right ??

he does sleep really well.. 3 hours at a go mostly and two lots of 5 hours at night ....
