Have you had a normal copper wire one or a Mirena??

I have a Mirena and that has helped me big time with bleeding and it is now every 5 weeks I bleed for 1 day. I have been told tha the normal copper ones you do have more bleeding to begin with.

I had an IUD between these two pregnancies. It was heavy but it did settle down after 3-4 AF's. It was always a bit heavier than it was pre IUD though. I would give it another couple of months before making a decision about whether or not its bearable.

ETA - at first I would fill a tampon to the point of it falling out within an hour. After 3-4 AF's that settled down to every 3 hours.

I'm having my second AF after having IUD inserted 6 months ago and it is so heavy, I'm housebound. This is on day 4/5 of AF too.

I use a mooncup (www.mooncup.co.uk) and it fills about 15mls in two hours or less.

Those of you with IUDs, have you experienced your AF settling down? I'm getting married in exactly three AF's time and I'm scared - white dress n all! Considering going on pill, not that I wanted to use a hormonal method of contraception.
