Maybe what you want to do is make his room just a sleeping place. So you don't play in it at all and then only use it for bed time.
Also you could take down you cot that way he knows he has no choice but to sleep in his big boy bed.

My son just truned two. He is sleeping in the nusrery, which is a small room. We decided to move him into the spare room whcih is almost twice the size. We decorated it in a Thomas Tank Engine theme complete with a Thomas bed & bedding. He loves the room & loves playing in there, & he loves the bed...for jumping on & playing on, but he refuses to lie down on it & sleep on it. We don't know what to do. He just won't sleep in it & so every night we give up after a bit & take him back to the cot in the nursery (which is now filled with junk). I have no idea how to get him to sleep in his new room & new big boy bed.
