I live an hour from any decent baby shops and have found internet shopping to be great. I used the sleepstore and merino kids websites and got everything I needed. I had some wraps but then she go too big for them (don't get to many 1m by 1m as they get to big for them quick) I got online and ordered the big stretchy cotton wraps from the sleep store, then for winter went on to gogo bags. Any way what I am saying is that once bubs is here and no time to go shopping all you need is just a few clicks and a visa card away!!

It was on wheels and jake was in whatever room i was in for the first 6 weeks and from then just in our room at night. It was so easy at night as he was right there next to me and I just pulled him into bed for a feed.

I found when wrapping Jake that he hated BEING wrapped, but once wrapped he would settle. He still fights being wrapped now but as soon as the second arm is tucked in his eyes get heavy and he starts drifting off... so cute.

I am thinking about moving him to a sleeping bag soon,.. there are just too many to choose from!

I hate to think where I'd be without OhBaby! I'll get a swaddling wrap so I have the option to use that if I want to, and see about the other things once bubs is here.
I'm trying to get everything I can sorted pre-baby, cos I live 40 minutes from town, and town tends to be crazy busy pre-christmas, so I don't really want to have to trawl shops when bubs is a newborn.
The times when she wasn't swaddled she'd wake alot earlier than usual - (2hourly instead of 4-5hourly) and she couldn't re-settle without being swaddled.

She is now in a gro-bag (only 1tog) so has sheet, woolen blanket folded over & cot duvet over top.. add another woolie if its a really cold night.
Never used a safety-sleep so can't comment.

If I were you I would wait till your baby is here and decide what you want to do - you could try swaddling (just use muslin, its really cheap) and see if it works. Some babies hate it and don't settle being wrapped, some won't settle without being wrapped - My friends DD is still wrapped at nearly 8mths, she loves it!
Helped with letting him know it was night and stoped him startling. He was never that attatched to it though so stopped at one month when i couldnt be bothered anymore and because he was sleeping on his tummy i didnt wrap him as i didnt feel it was safe. he didnt mind. I just used muslin wraps as they are real light weight.
With this baby since it will be summer i will just wrap in a muslin and not put any blankets on (unless its a bit chilly then maybe a extra cotton blanket). If i was putting baby straight into a cot i would definately wrap (swaddle) as i think it would make them feel a bit more secure in a large space.
We didnt use a sleeping bag until winter and when he started moving around - in summer we jsut let him but in winter he needed warmth which is where the sleeping bag came in.
I hope that makes sense

I didn't like the idea of strapping him down as such, but alot of people love them. Not sure if we will try it with Ben.

We have swaddled both the boys at night, it seemed to help with the startle reflex and distinguish between night and day. Both boys sleep/slept in the hammock during the day and the bassinette at night.

I think some of it is personal preference and the rest is what your baby likes.
