We have only been trying for 6 months but I am pretty pesimistic about our ability to concieve naturally for different reasons (DH is overweight and there is a lot of info on line about the effects that can have on their swimmers). I inquired at the GP and found out you can get his swimmers analysed through your GP without going through a fertility clinic....or if he's not willing to go down that track a company that sells OPK's on trade me (I think its called baby for me...based in Wanganui anyway) is now selling DIY sperm anaysis kits....i think its about $80 for 2 tests and they are marketed as being 80% accurate. We are both going to get basic tests done this month because I think that if its bad then at least we can do something about it instead of wasting another 6 months trying and if its all good then we'll both stop stressing and relax a bit more and it will probably eventually happen.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Fertility for men just gets less and less as they age, whereas women reach menopause and are no longer fertile at all.
I remember reading a few years ago that male fertility at 40 is much lower than at 30 (one of my best mates has a much older partner, so she was quite concerned about it - he was just over 40 then). I can't remember where I read it, but I do know it was a scientific source. The advice from it was basically that if you were a male over 40, you were with your life partner already, and wanted kids 'one day' then you should start TTC because it may take some time. My friend thought about it and decided she was way too young to go there. One of the side-effects of a big age gap, I guess.
Good luck sweetpea

Yeah i think we did in the beginning in fact i remember mum saying something very early on in our relationship she hasn't siad anything for ages the last time i said something about it in passing she just said to be why should age matter its only a number. Thats is so true. The interesting fact was that a group of friends that we had at ubi were all with older partners not exactly the same age gap but still age gaps. Sometimes if i'm in a situation where i have to introduce Dh i go on the defesive abit and wiat on the comments they never come though i guess people see us together and realise that we are really good together.

DH is 25 and i got pg the first time i ovulated but in saying that he has never touched alcohol, drugs or a cigarette. (i married a super good boy. lol)

i would say that it doesnt decline the same a woman as we are born with all the eggs we will ever have therefore they get older as we do, however sperm takes 90 days to produce and the stuff that doesnt get used gets reabsorbed and new stuff is made to take its place so i think even if there is a decline it would e a very gradual and not significant one. :)
