I am also looking at doing something like barnados or porse next year. It would be nice for Jake to have a playmate.

I have contacted PORSE and their in home carers charge anywhere from $5-$10 per hour dependant on experience and qualifications. The fee for Barnados carers is on their website but I cant remember what it was.... Of course tax/ACC need to be deducted from that and I hadnt looked into insurances (I would assume as you would be working from home you would need to change home/contents/car from domestic to business and possibly look at liability insurance incase anything happens and you were negligent (sp?) - DH is an insurance underwriter and these are his concerns with me doing it.). It is possible that PORSE, Barnados may take out some kind of liability insurance to cover all their carers, like I said I have not fully looked into this aspect.

Gosh, that sounds a bit doom and gloom doesnt it! Better to check it our first then find out the hard way I guess.

I'm a stay at home mum....am just starting to look at some form of childcare for Leah as she is 3 soon. Joel will be home with me!

Hi There,

Just wanted to know how many of you are stay at home Mums and if there is anyone that has done or been a in home carer like Barnardos? Im not asking how much you earn, but is it worth it etc...

Im thinking about doing something like that when my girl gets a little bigger. A wee play mate for her.
