Have been in hospital for a few days to put Brodie under lights for Jaundice and ended up getting his TT snipped while we were in. The Lactation consultant did it but she said his was unusual as he seemed to be tied on top and the bottom of the little ball thing under his tounge IYKWIM. Anyway - he does seem to be latching alot better so think it has helped a wee bit.

I'm not sure if that is because his wasn't too bad though. His tongue did use to be kind of forked like a snake. It never seemed to effect him latching, although in saying that I stopped feeding him cos of constant breast infections and blocked ducts so maybe he wasn't actually latching properly.

We did have trouble latching on but once on he fed fine... it would take like 15 minutes to get him latched on though. We in the end worked a way that worked for us (cant remeber what we did different now) But on the good side is - he can talk perfectly clearly and everyone understands him. so did not effect him in that way.

Have seen Lactation consultant when I was in the hospital about it and discussed it briefly with my MW but no-one seems to have any definate ideas about what we should do.

Has anyone else had a child who was tounge tied and did they do something about it? And if they did, did it help with their feeding (ie improve it) in any way.

Brodie seems to be a bit lazy on the breast and we have been working on latching ALOT (my poor nipples!!!) and wondering if it has anything to do with his TT.

Oh better mention - it isn't overly bad and he does seem to be able to stick his tounge out a wee bit
