I got some microfleece and diy, real easy, and works so well. I do have some real nappy liners, which I use in a nappy when I know she is going to do a poopy. Another thing to think about is the wipes you're using - do you use bought wet wipes or cloth wipes?

I find L tends to 'cook' a bit with disposables... we use Tushies if we neeeed to... but I think they agrivate it.... Thats just us though. Everyone seems to be different.

Jody started getting nappy rash until I realised I was using totally the wrong kind of clothes washing stuff. I was using surf sensitive. It had built up in the nappies. So I stripped the nappies (I did a search on stripping in the cloth nappy section and found a vinegar/baking soda 'recipe').
Then I switched to using Am-O-Lin liquid, with a few drops of tea tree oil.
I have always used the Johnson's liners from the supermarket. I thought we had avoided the nappy rash plague (everyone said I would have a problem with it if I used cloth) but as always with bubbas, just when you are feeling smug about how great you are they bring you back to earth and we have been battling an angry red bum for 2 days. I think it was set off by heat (I had her in the pram under the rain cover and a polar fleece blanket ... yes I basically cooked her).
anyway we have got on top of it using combo of disposables and pawpaw cream. I also got the bepanthen out of hiding.

As Flissty says, my best tip would be to use disposables at night as they just do the business over those longer stretches. hahahaaa snap- again dinkyminky!
L had it w the real naps cos he is a HEAVY wetter and seemed to stay wet for who knows how long you could wring them out!
We started using a pocket nappy I got from Trade me- basically cheap Bumgenious naps... fleece with an absorber insert. Nappy rash has all but dissapeared.
Gaia bum powder is great too- basically cornflour we lavender.... excellent stuff.

I tend to change him before he has a sleep and then shortly after he wakes up. During the day he doesn't sleep for more than 2 hours and I don't bother changing him at night as he's fine in his sposies. Daniel is really prone to nappy rash when he's in cloth. I use RealNappies flushable liners, always use a light cream on his bum when using cloth and change 2 hourly. Hey dinkyminky - if you look up www.greenbeans.co.nz they are a cloth nappy diy store - you can get a metre of microfleece that will make lots of liners for under $6.. means you can cut them to the shape that best suits your nappies and baby as well.. Much cheaper than buying them off TM. We use cloth too, I got soem microfleece liners to go in them ( on top of the nappy ) and that seems to have helped the nappy rash. Hi Just wondering who uses real nappies rather than disposables? Im using them, but my girl keeps getting terrible nappy rash so have bought a pack of disposables till it clears up. I'm thinking shes getting it bad because she is such a long sleeper and her nap is sitting on her too long. I don't want her to have nappy rash but also don't want to wake her to change her nap & upset her!

I use a barrier cream, lucas pawpaw ointment and also have sudocrem.
