We have one sterlised in the fridge at all times! Now Jake has found his fingers he isnt using it so much, but if he is really unsettled he still needs to swaddle tightly.. cant get his fingers then.<br /><br />A know a few people who are using the old school ones with the bib bulb looking teat.  I dont think Jake would take it, but apparently its the only ones their bubs would.<br /><br />Trial and error.]]>

Benjamin refused to take a dummy for a start then all of a sudden two days ago I tried him again with it and he took it and settled beautifully!  <br /><br />I still have to hold it in there especially if he's really upset but I've definitely found that it's worked after he wouldn't have a bar of it for a start.  <br /><br />Good luck though - I wasn't a big fan of them either but I am a big fan of anything that helps to settle my baby!!  <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;]]>

Id try a different dummy to see if it works. <br />We hated them too but henry had reflux and it helped him soothe. At around six months we took it off him and he now sucks his thumb. ]]>

He still doesn't really get a good suction on it so I normally position his hands in such a way that he holds it in by himself.  Sometimes he even puts his hands there by himself.  I didn't introduce it till he was a month old.  So I would suggest that you keep trying and also maybe you could try a different shaped one.]]>
