I personally wouldn't eat one from a shop. I tend to avoid custard, cream (unless heating to piping hot in cooking), cream cheese, sour cream etc unless at home and I open the pack and use immediately.

I was wondering if allowed to eat ie cream things like custard squares and sooo felt like getting one yesterday but didn't. Also thought sushi would be suspicious but good to know can still do homemade if made carefully!
So much to think about huh!

Yip the first trimester does feel like it goes pretty slow, but soon you will be out of there and into the 2nd!
Not too sure about the custard but yip you can have cream as long as its fresh (i think they say consume within 2 days of opening...maybe) You will be able to find info on food from here linky dinky

With the dentist make sure you tell them that you are pregnant. They can't do exrays on you, and i spose they will help you with info on wether you can have the anethestic. i have a feeling they usally say wait until the 2nd trimester unless its majorly urgent.

Firstly, I would give your dentist a call and pre warn them. My dentist doesn't like doing anything in the first trimester but they do say that they are extra cautious - still good to give them a heads up so that you feel safe.

With regards to food. You can have custard as long as you only eat it once you have heated it really well. Cream is fine in cooking as long as it's pretty fresh.

Have you seen a copy of the Food safety in pregnancy booklet? If you want, pm me and I can send you my copy (I have several!!). In my first pregnancy I put the pull out section in the middle on the fridge and referred to it all the time.

I am not good with secrets :-)

Anyway, I know the basics about what you can and can't eat, but what about custard in a tetrapak from the supermarket? And can I use cream in my cooking? I assume so but want to be EXTRA careful :-)

Also does anyone know the story with going to the dentist. I am due a filling replacement this afternoon and not sure whether I should have a local anethestic!!
