Any more tips would be appreciated guys. I'm carrying a big bub so after an emergency c section last time and me being small it looks like I'll be having an elective. (Just had the growth scan today and I see my doc on tues, then specialist).

Jake gets in and out of his highchair already. But I just figured DH would be doing his bath and putting him into bed (hes in a sleeping bag so can't get up or down by himself) for the first few weeks, and I won't be able to drive so DH or mum will be with me to get him into the car. Will I need DH/mum there for 6 weeks every day though - to get him into bed for naps????

I've had him walking up the stairs more ... and we sit on the ground next to each other alot, instead of him on me or trying to get on me on the couch.

How hard have others found it dealing with a 2/almost 2 year old after a c section?

The nappy changes are a worry .... he kicks me at times already and hates having to lie down when I need to change it! Teach him to not come up to you and use his hands/elbows to climb onto your lap via your tummy. How about climbing in and out of the car? A couple of my friends had CS with both babies and it was a real strggle to get the big kids in and out of the car and their seats - it is bending and twisting/leaning.

Will DH be spending the first couple of weeks at home? Or do you have family or friends to come and help for maybe the first week? I taught Tom to get into his highchair too...just because he was heavy while pregnant. I also had him half climbing into and out of his cot....with me helping. Apart from the first week or so, I found I could "lift" him out of bed if I stood right against the cot and he climbed up into my arms and then I let him slide down me to the ground....IYKWIM

Spencer can climb in and out of his highchair (so long as they tray isn't attached obviously), depends whether you want to encourage climbing though Spencer goes and gets in his to let me know he's hungry....lol but we now tell him to go and get in it to get him out of the kitchen whilst we're cooking.

You can start teaching him to come and sit next to you, rather than on you, this is good for when you are feeding baby as well so comes in handy even if you don't have another c/s.

Is he ok with having his bum changed? Spencer can get very tantrummy with that sometimes so I spent a while trying to find a way to keep him calm for nappy change time as I was worried I could potentially get a big toddler kick in a c/s wound I think had I have had a c/s I would have needed to resort to giving him rice crackers whilst I changed his bum as nothing else seems to work.

Ok that may sound kinda strange, but I couldn't think of how to phrase it. I have a hospital appointment when I'm 36 weeks to discuss options for delivery after the tear I got with Blair. I'm thinking that if I opt for a CS, that 4 weeks may not be enough time to prepare Blair (who will be 20 months old at the time) for things I will and won't be able to do afterwards.

So, what can I start doing now with him that would be useful for afterwards - especially if I do have a CS.

He's already in a big bed, so I'm not lifting him in or out of bed.
