I used garlic and herbs before I used the more earthy spices like cumin and corriander.

She has been on and off solids since 4 1/2 months but only once a day and we have been gradually increasing the amount. She's certainly had a good variety of first foods.

I got a baby and toddler cookbook from the library to get inspired, and there was one suggestion of potato, pea and mint puree ... it used fresh mint and I have tried that with her and she really likes it. So maybe I will get her onto the garlic and spices once she starts eating meat (we plan to do that from 7 months).

Thanks again.

He eats the same meals as us mostly. When did you start him on solids? I would wait until hes been on them a few months before doing anything with heaps of flavour. He will get used to it pretty quick. But id be worried about upsetting their lil tummies.

When I'm cooking for my husband and I, I use stuff like cinnamon, cumin, coriander, ginger, garlic, basil, oregano, turmeric, paprika, caraway seeds etc. quite often.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!
