Okay so I'm no so keen on the TT one now having heard all these stories of false alarms. Having said that Baby's are irregular breathers so there is a chance they weren't actually "false" alarms but just that the sound of the alarm had startled Bubba to start breathing again, in saying that they would still be cyanosed around they're lips etc..so maybe not...

So with the angelcare ones... what is the difference between the AC301 and the AC401 (digital) I can't figure it out! Except that there is $100 difference! Is it just that because it's digital there is zero chance of interference. We actually had a AC201 model given to us but there is so much interference that you couldn't sleep with the parent unit on. So I don't want to spend $350 on the newest fanciest model for it just to do the same thing!!

You'd definitely know if Ben had stopped breathing RunningT, my Mercedes had two apnoeas as a newborn and I can tell you that when a baby stops breathing, they go an awful grey color . Good luck at Baby City!

We haven't had any interference probs with ours. We have the Tommee Tippee one and are happy with it. The only reason we didn't get the AC (after a lot of research) was because there were none left in the country in time for Lilys birth as the new version was due out end of August. We have a lot of false alarms but in saying that, I really think it is her, not the monitor. I have watched Lily sleeping when the alarm has gone off (and she's in a safety sleep so no chnace of her rolling off the mat) and she often doesnt move at all when she's in a deep sleep. It used to do my head in but am used to it now. We are starting to wean ourselves (DH and I lol) off the motion sensor part though. The good points about the AC would be the 2 pads (more coverage) and the many channels - TT only has 3 and the static is often unbearable. RunningT - ANOTHER ONE last night at 4am. It is doing my head in!

Ava is 6 months old and it was fine up until about 8 days ago or so. We only had the odd false alarm (ie, i think about 3 in that time) but in the past 8 days it has been every night.   Its positioned correctly. Sure, she was ever so slightly on an angle but i dont think that would've made the slightest bit of difference - it hasnt in the past.

I read up on the reviews for all the sound and movement monitors and found that the Tomee Tippee s & M monitor seemed to get a lot of reports of interference around the house and some people said it was almost unusuable as the interference was so bad.
So because of this we've gone for the Angelcare digital.
The Respisense was also highly recommended but doesn't have all the functions and features of the latest Angelcare monitor.

Went off for about 5 secs then turned off as bubs moved again.

Well ours went off AGAIN last night! And like RunningT said, Ava was also happy and fine. It has happened now about 5 times in the last week. I ours, I wouldn't sleep without it. We've had a couple of false alarms, usually when the pad isn't positioned properly under her. She's had quite a complicated respiratory history so it's been a real relief to know she has the monitor on.

RunningT - I'd say either you don't have it set up properly, or it's a faulty one coz you shouldn't have that many false alarms. We have had a couple of false alarms and Im not sure why because Ava has still been on the sensor pad area. We ours too.

It really gives us peace of mind. especially at night.

We often have false alarms, I think my bubs either stretches without breathing, or wriggles slightly off the sensor pad.. we have to be precise in where we lay her in her cot, so that her torso is exactly over the middle of the sensor pad.

We went with the TT over the AC as we compared both and decided that they were almost identical, though different prices. We had already heard good things about the TT, so went with that one. Like Katie_R we also would have got the AC if we thought it would do a better job.

Here and here are links to a couple review sites for the TT.

Also, we actually found that a fan, or even a slight breeze through an open window, can send a movement signal to the sensor.. so if your baby has indeed stopped breathing, one of these two things can trick the sensor into thinking the baby is moving IYKWIM so we are quite careful about these two things while baby is in her cot with the monitor on.

I have one We love it!

Although I can't really compare it to the AC one as I have never used it!

From what I know there are two pads with the AC one and only one with the TT one?

Ash squiggles all around his cot and ends up in the weirdest places and we have never had any false alarms from him coming off where the pad is iykwim.

It has gone off 2 times now, but he has heart problems and it is fully likely that he has stopped breathing It was just after we got home and he did have a few times in hospital when he forgot to breathe. I was so thankful we had it those times!

I did look into both of them in the few days after we got Ash home when he was 1 month old and *honestly* I chose the TT because from what I read and was told it is just as good. I really, really, really would have gotten the AC one regardless of how much more it was if I had any thought that it would be better!!

I know there has been probably been a million threads on this topic but...

I'm trying to decided whether to get an angelcare sound and movement monitor or the Tommee Tippee ultimate reassurance monitor. They both seem to have the same features but the TT one is about $120 cheaper!
