I don't go in and he gets bored so most often settles down by himself. If he sees me though OMG thats it!! So yeah no way no how does he get it back unless hes been crying for 20 minutes minimum without us going in. Then we go in, pop his dummy in, tuck him in and leave without saying a word. Its a brilliant strategy (thankyou supernanny!!!!!) which I highly recommend!

He did grow out of it and now we have just got rid of the dummy for good.. like you it was great cause he was such a good sleeper I didn't want to rock the boat and spoil that = as it is he does wake probably half hour earlier but sleeps just as good after day 3 of no dummy

She would do it for attention seeking and would be 'worse' when she is teething.

We use the tommee tippee dummies and until recently they had no straps that would fit them but we bought some a few weeks ago that fit them and aren't too long to be a hazard.
It has been bliss in this house since

It'll be interesting to see how it goes for the next teething round as she gets very clingy.

Hmmm.... Harry was like that when he wanted to change his sleep pattern, is it like Tom just isn't as tired as he used to be?

Ooooo also I thought of this which might help with the teething thing - I wonder if it's teething that's bothering him and he's getting annoyed with the dummy cos it doesn't stop it hurting. Actually I read something the other day that said that sucking on dummies can bring the blood to the surface of the gums which makes it hurt more. Can't remember where I read that, but thought it was interesting cos we also give Harry a dummy for sleeps.

Anyway here's the link for that teething thing Teethifier

Mummy was still there etc. Nothing helped! In the end I had to "find" another one for him, leaving the originals under the bed. He was asleep in seconds and then a very subdued boy after that. I felt awful. Especially so when I discovered 2 molars the next day.

However. That night, he got his dummy for bed and what did he do? Threw it down the back of his cot...Grrrr!!!! Stern words from Daddy and he was ok.

Yesterday nap was great...no prob. Last night, problems again.

Now he has been in bed for 1hr20 and no sleep (he was tired and normally falls asleep in minutes). The dummy has been thrwon down so many times. He is now trying to pull things off the wall.

HELP!!!! any ideas???? do I need to toughen up? I feel like I may have gone too far the other day by let him cry for 2 hours ( I was with him a lot of that as I decided it was the dummy he wasnt allowed, not mummy).
