I don't know if it is true but at least it comforts them and if they are feeding well you can be assured that they aren't having any reactions that are affecting their breathing.
Dominic had a reaction to his second lots of vaccinations so for the third we had to go to Waikato Hospital so he could be monitored. The nurse there said that you shouldn't give pamol before a vaccination as it can mask some reactions. You could take it with you to the Doctors though and give it straight after the jabs.
I hate the jabs and always made my husband hold him for them.

As the others said I didn't want to mask any reactions and I didn't want to give him pamol if he didn't need it. As it was he got alot better each time and often didn't get any temps until much later in the day.

I found feeding straight afterwards was a great way to calm him down. I also recommend going early in the morning then if they are unhappy it happens during the day when you are better equiped to deal with it rather than the middle of the night.

If you found it hard dealing with the jabs maybe there is someone that can go with you this time to help support you, if you are calm then your son is more likely to be calm.

I was also worried about masking of symptoms, but received confirmation from the nurse that if a massive reaction (or temperature spike) happens, pamol will not be enough to mask it! I did that for the 3 month and 5 month ones, and Natalie was way happier than the 6 week ones.

I had to have a night in Hospital with Jacob due to a bad reaction at his 6wk jabs (went cold & wouldn't feed) but the 3 mnth ones went absoluetly fine. If he becomes a bit unsettled when you egt him home then give him some.

I hope this time everything goes O.K. for you both.

I would wait until after and then give some pamol when your little boy is looking a bit sad. Also remember that each baby reacts differently each time, so fingers crossed that he is not so bad this time. It is a horrible thing for him (and you) to have to go through but so much less horrible than getting sick from some nasty disease. to you both.

Should I dose him before we go or straight after to get best pain relief.

(Sorry if this is a pedantic question, the last vaccs were traumatic for me too and I want to manage his pain/potential discomfort as best I can)

Edited by JessDub
