Thanks ladies.

I don't think he's snacking or comfort sucking as such because he literally is feeding the entire time, not coming on and off or even really slowing down with swallowing..? He's always been a bit sleepy and slow with feeding I think because he's so little (and prem), although that is slowly improving - apart from these recent marathon feeds.

I thought we'd done OK this morning but after 45 mins on one side, then over 30 on the other quick "play" (wash & change) and bed I ended up getting Callum back up because he was crying for more food within 15 mins!

I'm looking forward to seeing the LC because although I think his hunger signs are very obvious, I do wonder whether we're "doing it right" or if I'm being too quick to feed him again ...

That must be tough. I remember a couple of days when my boy was younger that he did pretty much exactly what your wee one is doing. I thought it was a growth spurt and he was hungry.... but then I realised he was actually just sucking for comfort, cos he had a sore tummy cos of something I'd eaten. So maybe look at it and see if you think he might be sucking for comfort? Ella used to feed for HOURS at a time when she was little... and honestly, it got to the point where it did my head in. So I feel your pain, and good on you for arranging the LC - you'll get some top shelf advice, I'm sure. I was advised by plunket and MW to just let her keep feeding, because she was so obviously hungry. Thing is, that advice sat well with me at first, but it got to the point where I realised no baby needed a 5-hour continuous evening feed - there was obviously something wrong with that. Hugs hun, I know how frustrating that can be! Could still be a growth spurt, we had a couple of growth spurts that lasted almost a week, sorry

That is a reaaaaalllly long time to be feeding though, you must be exhausted - $75 isn't really much in the scheme of things if the LC can help!

The past couple of days Callum's feeding has been really frustrating (for me!). He started off wanting to feed every couple of hours, or even every hour, which I put down to a growth spurt and wanting to increase my milk supply.

Then the night before last (after I was exhausted from the nonstop feeding all day Saturday lol) he slept till 3am but then feed almost constantly till after 6am. I checked every 30 mins or so to make sure there was still milk there (yip) and ended up having to change him to the other side as he was still frantic for more after over an hour .

Last night wasn't as bad, just 2am - 4am, but still 2 hours is a lot longer than the 45 mins on one side that was filling him up last week.

Is this just a transition while he gets used to getting through the increased milk? Or should I be worried that he's slowed down or my milk has slowed or something?
