Hi Denny, some babies transition to a 'normal' sleep sack easily, those that don't, the Peke Moe can be very useful for, it reduces a little bit of the hand movement (you can tuck the foot end of the Peke Moe into the foot end of the cot to start with to reduce some of the hand movement.) Keeping hands covered can help babies as they can't scratch their faces. Many babies just seem to 'love' the cosiness of being inside the Peke Moe.
The Peke Moe is fine for baby to use whne moving around/standing in cot. My boy wore his till about 15/16months, and he was getting too long for it, i just unzipped the bottom and he still slept great in it.. just meant he was covered all night.
All babies are different , it's sort of trial and error to see what works best. Keep us posted :)

yes it is a pekemoe but it didnt work for us.. we got a sleeping bag without arms .. (the next size up pekemoe without arms would have worked but we were poor) :) yes we always wrapped with hands down by sides..

i wanted something to cover his hands as i was paranoid that he would cover mouth and not be able to breathe but he was fine in his new one:)

we always had safety sleep and wrap..then just safety sleep then neither.. (which took a while!!) he started to be able to undo the safety sleep(and get all twisted in it)!! we just once he could stand put the cot mattress down ...and once they could stand they would be in the pekemoe without arms.. I would recommend getting rid of safety sleep before they stand up as it was soooo hard with E once he could..

sheza yeah thats same as E... so Denny yours doesnt look like that?

Hmmm we didnt have an issues with hours riding up at all....and I never saftey pinned it. Um when he was swaddled I would have him arms by his side and wrap the Safe T Sleep over him.

This is how Caden was in his when we stopped swaddling

dont have issues with riding up but do with him rolling over a getting stuck in the middle of the night. he's not wrapped so arms abocve the STS and then he'll roll over onto his tummy and cant get back.

I think they are designed as a transition between wrapping and a sleeping bag.

It would be pretty hard for the bub to get out of a safety sleep in a pekemo though as they wouldnt be able to undo it? So im unsure how they would stand up in one (unless you were thinking of no safety sleep?)

We went straight to a sleeping bag, but would wrap her over the top with a merino wrap or a muslin cloth.

I'm just trying to find a pic of E in his safety sleep...

so you only have safety sleep under one arm...yeah i agree with lilfatty...if you safety pinned wouldnt it be safety sleep to the sheet?
when he was little we safety sleeped like this and wrapped

then he had arms out like this(he sleeps in normal sleeping bag now ) though it did take about four goes to sleep without wrap and then later on without safety sleep!

That sounds odd. DS has always slept with his arms out so have never had a problem. I have never safety pinned it either. Is Ava quite wriggly?   Could you try to safety pin the wrap/safety sleep to the sheet some how??

I think your problem is you only have it wrapped under one arm .. its the arms that are supposed to keep the wrap in place around the body

We dont pin Issy in either and have never had it ride up to her chin (although her arms would stop it going to her chin, unless she slept with both arms straight up)

Its not flat though .. obviously it gets out of place as she moves (especially cause issy rolls over to sleep on her tummy) but never so much as for me to think it would be dangerous.

OK maybe i am doing something wrong, but every night when i put Ava into her safetsleep it creeps up right under her arms and up under her chin. I put it on snuggly and even safety pin it to her wrap but it still creeps up. It worries me!!! She is wriggly but still...what am i doing wrong?
