Usually though a previous c-section means you have the option to have an elective c-section paid for by the public health system. <br /><br />The ruckus I caused with wanting a VBA2Cs was pretty funny so I imagine if you really push for it then you shouldn't have too many problems getting an elective <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> ]]>

I had to really push for an elect C/S with twins! Luckily Esme was breech so they caved in the end lol! Just keep pushing for it.]]>

There is no way i want a VBAC, especially after the horrible labour i had!     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=18651">lilfatty</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 23634<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 11 January 2009 at 8:11am<br /><br />Issy was an emergency c .. and (at least in central Auckland) they offer you the option of an elective C, which is done for free via the public health system.<br /><br />Even if you want a VBAC at about 30 weeks you HAVE to go into the hospital and discuss the complications that can arise with trying a VBAC with the OB staff at the hospital.<br /><br />Im not sure where you are, but you may want to discuss it with your mw.<br /><br />My mw asked at the very beginning as if I wanted an elective c, as she would refer me straight to the hospital (as the mw doesnt get paid if you opt for an elective) so the hospital does your pre and post natal care also.]]>

I know this because they are still umming and ahhing about whether they will give me another c-sec (despite my pleas to have one) due to how my last birth went. If they decide to go for a VBAC you have a trial of labour, where they "see how it goes" and you are monitored quite a bit during labour. <br /><br />To avoid all this you can pay for a c-sec, but I believe it costs around $5000 <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif" border="0"> so not usually an option for a lot of people.<br /><br />I think you'd have to have a pretty strong case to be given an elective c-sec though as they do so many now... ]]>
