It's a great gift to teach your child to be self settling -  to her and to you<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> <br />good luck, you seem to have started to break the habits with her beginning to sleep through, but don't be surprised if she throws you a curved ball in a couple of nights, just stick to what you have been doing, otherwise all the hard work you have put in now (and tears and guilt - I know) will be in vain]]>

I'm in shock! I can count the number of times she's ever done that on one hand.<br /><br />We've tried things haphazardly because I'm a big sissy and cant stand her being upset. I'd love to have a second child but cant even think about it when we're still so sleep deprived so decided it was time to pick one thing and stick to it... sleepsense didnt seem too draconian.<br /><br />Praying the next few nights go well too. How many nights does it take to break a habit?<br /><br />]]>

(she was sleeping through from 7pm till after 7am)</P><P align=left>Spoke to plunket yesterday while there with Joel and she said to do what ever works for us at the time, at least by coming in with us she feels secure and safe and will calm down and go back to sleep.</P><P align=left>So at the end of my ramble, my point was that their sleep patterns keep changing so don't be surprised if something else happens down the track.</P>]]>

I chose it cos you don't actually leave her to it, just slowly withdraw, at least you do with babies fays age then, didn't read the toddler section so i might be wrong]]>

Now she wakes around 4/5 times a night.<br /><br />Last night I started following the sleepsense book and it was harrowing. She cried for 2 hours and I couldnt take it anymore so went and rubbed her back until she dropped off <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0"><br /><br />She woke 3 times and put herself back to sleep 2 of those times, the other I went and rubbed her back after 10 minutes of crying.<br /><br />Is there anyone else doing this? How long does it take? I'm ending up feeling traumatised. God knows how she must feel. ]]>
