The first few times I just took the sheets off his bed so they smelt familiar (as Jaz said) but I don't bother anymore.

Mum has Jack on Fridays and he sleeps in a portacot at at hers as well as one at Bro and SILs if we go there. I just suppose he is used to it.

I would put a white cotsheet over the side of the portacot so the view is not too different from when she is in the cot. I'd also tuck in a familiar toy (teddy bear etc) near her so she can look at that. Failing all of that, if I was really desperate I'd probably try rocking her to sleep but that can be a 50/50 matter over 1yr.

We just plonked him in and didnt have any issues.. What about the cot being on the bottom level!?!?! My god the issues we're having with that!! Maybe it's because he's lower down or something? I thought after being in a portacot frequently he'd be fine in his cot on the low level but no!

This sounds bad but what I mean is we wouldn't take clean blankets out of the cupboard, just his duvet/blanket out of his cot. If we go somewhere now we usually stay in his room until he is asleep.

We went away for 3days (2nights) a week later and it takes her a little longer to sette but she sleeps ok in it.
