Micah stares at "things" too. I like to think that it is DH's Nana and Grandad. So I often talk out loud to them. Lol so true Sheena. Harry used to grin at random stuff, or just stare at a patch on the ceiling. DH used to say "can you see Jesus?" (joking), and he used to just keep staring. Was cute.

And in my plunket book, from when I was a few months old, it says "Smiles at doorhandles". No kidding! Ok when I first read this thread I thought, how weird, but then it happened to me.

The other morning I was feeding DS in our bedroom and he kept staring past the boob at the wall and it took me ages to distract him and get him going, then when I put him on m shoulder to burp him he did this huuuuuge smile and a bit of a giggle, which was a bit of a first and I was thinking now just who is that for....... bizaare.

My stepdad passed away in the loungeroom of our house 6 years ago, Daniel often crawls over to a picture of him and my mum and smiles.  He'll be playing away and just stop and crawl to the table with the pics on it.  Mum believes Rob is talking to him, I used to just think he liked all the photos - now it makes me wonder at times :)

When he was tiny he used to smile up at the lights (we used to call them boob lights coz they kinda looked like boobs)

It's nice to think that may be what it is about... but gives me the chills a bit too. But, I figure as long as he's smiling, it's got to be all good right?!

I've had several unexplainable (one horrible one) experiences in my life so I do think these things are possible.

Reminds me of when my sister was little. She had an "invisible friend" and would have these amazing conversations and, I never saw how could be so one-sided. Either she was really smart and having one half in her head, or she was talking to someone we could't hear. Cian does this too - and I'd love to know what's going on!! DH's Dad died when he was 14 and I'm sure he's been here since the birth keeping an eye on his first grandson... cool feeling. My darling friend died 3 weeks after her daughter was born (blood clot at 23 ) in June last year
Her daughter is now one and a half and doesnt do it so much, but when she was little her eyes would always find the spot my friend used to stand and look out the window , This spot was also good for when she was crying , all you had to do was go into the lounge and she would spot and listen to...whatever, and a big smile would come over her face .

I totally believe her mum was there with her watching over her (and still is )
because I knew my friend well , and I know death would be no distance for her looking over her girl

Kade was sitting on my lap in bed today and was staring at our lamp and smiling away like it was the best invention ever. Everything is new to our little bubs so im presuming thats why they stare and smile. It is rather freaky at times, but my MW told me that babies are attracted to big white or black spaces, so thats why they stare at walls and stuff.

Leah has done it to DH, she started pointing to the corner of the room saying gran, and thats what he used to call his grandmother who died 3 years ago in England. Freaked him out totally, she done it a few times but not for a while now.

i had some weird lady ask me if noah does that. then she said that he sees alot more then the ordinary person. i was just like um ok then. shes all into crystle healing and that kind of thing.

So, often when I feed or hold Jackson, he stares over my shoulder (at the wall) or up the stairwell intently, and his eyes dart backwards and forwards like he is watching something.

Lately he has been saving his very best grins for the blank wall over my shoulder, and the stairwell. He smiles madly away.
