after my PPH with my first there was no way that i personally wanted to have a homebirth ( i had for my first) i was so terrified. for my own comfort i wanted to be near a place that "if" it happened again help would be there as fast as it was the first time.

but aswell as for my own comfort being in the hospital- i also had an IV in to help prevent another bleed.

You know, I wouldn't worry about it. Once you get pg with #2 you'll be able to ask your mw all those questions and make a fully informed birth plan together. That reminds me - just a wee side note, that most homebirth midwives carry full gear, including equipment and medication needed to treat a woman if she does haemmorhage after birth. I'm sorry but I don't know for sure either - although I had a haemorrhage after my DD's birth and lost about 1L, I am hoping to plan a home birth when we conceive our next bubba

I didn't haemorrhage after my first but I did after my second. Even tho we knew the reason why I haemorrhaged (multiple birth, big placenta) I still wasn't allowed to birth at Birthcare with my next baby so I'm guessing a homebirth would have been a no-no too had I wanted one. In hindsight I'm glad I was at the hospital as lil miss had her cord very tightly round her neck and it needed to be cut before she could be delivered, and also coz I did have another small haemorrhage.

I don't really know why it happened. They just said all they could put it down too was his size.(9lb 11oz). I tore twice too, worst was internal. It will depend on the cause of your h. then went on to have a home birth with their second?? We're planning on having another baby next year & I'm seriously thinking I'd like to have a home birth. But i lost 2 litres of blood when i had my baby.
