Safe T sleeps are fantastic, my son has one in his cot, I now feel good about putting him in the cot because I know he cant slide down under the sheets etc.
At night he gets swaddles tight and put in the safe T sleep, and during the day he just gets put in the safe T sleep un swaddled(unless he is restless).

I definitely recommend a Safe T Sleep and a sleeping bag.. my daughter is such a wriggle bum that she used to end up all over the bed and through the rails without even trying all that hard She also used to wake up screaming because she was cold, but once we started using a combination of them both she went back to sleeping from 7 - 7 every night.

We also took Austin's bassinet mattress out and put it in the cot and tucked blankets around it.  He slept on this mattress for ages! We also hung a sheet (pinned to the bumper) over the side so he couldn't see out, so it was just like his bassinet.  I still haven't removed the sheet!  Hehe.  Good luck

How does your bassinette look compared to the cot? You could try putting a while sheet over the side of the cot to make it plainer-looking? Also have you kept him in the same room with the same view (e.g. same side of the room)? Thanks for posting this! I've been trying to get Natalie into the cot during the day, but we're still trying to get her to sleep at all during the day, so I've given up for the time being. She actually is a better sleeper at night, so we might do the night sleeps in the cot first, then the day sleeps.

Very helpful suggestions about the bassinette mattress though - might try that. We were the same, we started with day sleeps and then went to nights, it took a little adjustment for DD2 but we got there eventually. She loves it now, it probably took about two or three weeks. We took Issys matress out of her bassinette and popped that inside the cot for the first while and tucked the blankets under the bassinette mattress (so like a cocoon on top of the cot mattress).

It was so that it smelt familiar to her .. it didnt take long before we took the bassinette mattress out and she was on the cot mattress alone

Heya and welcome to ohbaby

First thing I would try is putting your wee boy in his bassinette inside the cot... I guess seeing he's only *just* outgrown it he would fit in it for a couple of days? That way he has the familiar smell/feeling/closeness of the basinette but gets used to the new "view".

If he really doesn't fit in the basinnette anymore (and actually that's assuming you have one where the top part can come off the legs), you could try using a safety sleep and tucking a sheet/blanket really tight around him so he gets that feeling of closeness and isn't able to move around as much.

With the wraps - maybe you need to get some bigger ones? We had these awesome ones by Mother's Choice I think, from Farmers, they were awesome cos they were so big.

Oh and if you end up trying a safety sleep, that can just go over the top of the wrap and his arms, so that will keep him in a bit too. Looks mean but my boy did like it and it helped him sleep better.

Hi..I am a first timer on here but my sister has been a regular and has found everyone to be really helpful and I'm in need of some help. I'm a new mum and my son is 4 months old and until 2 nights ago was sleeping in our room in his basinnette (which he has now outgrown) very happily day and night - a great sleeper. He wants none of this cot business and has spent 2 nights screaming and crying - 2 days of no sleeping, he moves up and around the cot, kicks his blankets off and he's so tired (so am I) and he's breaking my heart..any advice or ideas would be gratefully accepted.
