We have a very stuborn little madam! We cant shut her door cos its a sliding door. But after the sucess this afternoon with continuing to put her back to bed, we will try that in the morning too.
I have also made her a sticker chart, if she stays in bed 5 times then she will get to go to the beach with me! I gave her a stciker for it this afternoon after she finally did go to sleep, and she thinks the chart is pretty cool.
I have also read the info from mel, thanks! It confirmed for us that there arent any other issues that we have missed, and that we arent expecting to much for her to have 12 sleep total per day.

I'm hoping that daylight savings starting will fix it as it is so light in the mornings now. I have one of those plastic knob things on the inside of her door so she can't get out (her room is downstairs and ours up so don't want her wandering around without us knowing) and like Emma, we don't get her up until 7. I leave a few toys and books in there when I go to bed so she plays with those. In between calling out for us and banging on the door of course lol.

    Author: Alianasmummy
Subject: 20927
Posted: 15 September 2008 at 7:53am

im in the same boat, now that the birds are starting earlier Xavier is waking at 5.00 - 5.30. it used to be 6.30 which i can handle. He just yells MUM for a while or plays in bed quietly. i go in every now and then and tell him to go back to sleep. (luckily his door handles are too high for him to reach so he cant get out) I think consistency is the key though, if you dont let them away with it then they will eventually stop waking.
My friends let their boy get up when he wants and now they are all getting up at 4.30am to start the day! its ridiculous and they are exhausted but they dont have the heart to say no to him.
So if you dont want to be a walking zombie, just keep putting her in her bed, maybe put her in a sleep sack so she has trouble climbing out and keep it up. maybe a few weeks of that and she will be so over it, shel just stay in bed. Make sure you say its too early to be up, go back to sleep. then say nothing when you go back in to put her to bed each time.
It seems to be working for us as there are no more tantrums about it, he has just accepted that he has to stay in his room until 6.30.
Good luck!
