She woke at 5.30 the other day and i was going to put her into bed at 7 but she asked to go at 6.30pm, so we let her and she slept until 7 the following morning! I might try it again tonight and see what happens, she has been up since 6 this morning.

She can 'read' books, play with her toys, or go back to sleep, but she needs to be in the room. Thankfully she can't open the door herself yet.... when she does.... I don't want to think of it

Also, a word on bedtime - I actually find, at this age, that they usually wake around the same time regardless, however, sometimes bringing the bedtime forward actually results in a bit more of a sleep-in, backwards as it sounds. I think it falls along the lines of sleep begets sleep - or certainly that an overtired child sleeps less well than a rested one.

She is certainly old enough to be able to be told, it's not morning yet, it's still sleep time, and tuck her back into bed. I would be inclined to shut the door on that occasion even if it is usually left open. Just to add a bit of firmness to the instruction. Does she have a doll or anything? Hopefully she can start her chatting and mucking around routine in her own bed, perhaps with her doll.

You could try extending her bedtime at night by 1/2 hour to see if that helps, too.

Any ideas?

I have tried telling her to wait till its light outside etc but nothing seems to work. She comes into our bed when she gets up but doesnt go back to sleep she just talks to herself in there and mucks around.
