Hey, this is really far too late for us July mums but thought I would bring up this thread in case any of the new mums are having these issues! I was getting fed up with my breast pads sliding around overnight and did a little googling out of interest and came across these: Booby Bib

They sound wonderful, I've done a bit of reading around various message boards and everybody that's tried them swear by them. I'm so getting a couple next time around.

The only place in NZ so far that I've seen them is Mummy Maternity, but they seem to have limited stock, only the smaller sizes at the moment. (Seems Breastmates used to have them but I can't find them on their site.) You can get all sizes from the Aussie manufacturer but it works out a fair bit more expensive.

I'm still one sided feeding and have been since the beginning, I just have far too much milk and lil miss is a lazy feeder so doesn't get enough hind milk if I swap sides half way thru. I do get lopsided/engorged between feeds on one side tho

Firstly, I tried the foxybots pads and they are really nice - the ones with dots are nicer than the ones without because I found my nipples stuck to the ones without a little

I can't report back on the difference between the regular and ultra ones though because my supply has settled right down which is wonderful, not only do I smell less in the mornings but feeding JJ is much easier, don't have to stop and burp him all the time any more and he's stopped spilling again, yay. I fed him from one side only each feed (which meant suffering a little as each side got engorged in turn and I felt very lopsided!) and it has totally worked to settle it all down. i did 2 breast pads in each bra cup last night which cut down the leakage - will try 3 tonight.

Seems like different brands work better for different people, probably depending on the size of your boobs! I'm currently using the natracare ones - I got given a couple of boxes by people who know I'm a tree hugging hippie - but I have to say they don't seem to stay in place as well as the johnsons ones did. I never used the sticky pad on the back of the johnsons ones, left the backing paper on them so I could take them in and out of my bra while feeding.

Although as you wondered in the July babies thread, I think maybe my choice of bra has a big effect on whether the pads stay in place or not.

Pidgeon pads ae the best IMO, I'm a leaker form waay back and I found these the best. Like becks said, express off after a feed, and freeze, it you never know when you might need it, will come in handy with solids etc.

You can also just express enough off to be comfortable, i wouldn't express off lots and lots if you aren't feeding, then you will keep making that much. It self regualtes, and can take a while.

What you could do is for now express after baby has finished feeding, yes you will produce all that milk again but in a few weeks it will settle down. I have heard that it can take up to 6 weeks to get everything settled when it comes to feeding.

If you are changing that often then I would be getting some more cloth pads.

If you express then your boobs will probably keep making what they are making now rather than making more but they won't calm down if that's what you want. If you do want to save some for freezing then avent sell collector cups that you wear on one side when feeding on the other and it collects the leaks from that side. I could normally end up with an extra 40-60mls doing this and it is milk that would otherwise just leak into a pad. I would then tip into a ice cube tray to freeze.

It can take quite a while for your boobs to calm down especially if you have a plentiful supply but it will happen in the end.

After starting with a week on no milk, my boobs have gone into overproduction. I'm leaking majorly - even changing the pads hourly during the day, and 3x/night, I'm getting soaked.

I've just gone and bought some different pads (BabyFirst seem crap - am trying peapods reusables and Avent disposies) so hopefully that will help. Any tips re brands?

Also, I'm trying to decide - since I've got so much milk, should I express it and store it up? From what I've read, the more you feed/express, the more the body produces, but since it's producing so much, will it actually cause me to produce more if I express?
