Actually that sounds exactly right for an 8mo, remembering that food is their first priority now and drink/milk second priority. My girls were feeding like that at that age and were still breastfeeding at 11mos-ish. her self off the breast just yet...today she had a feed at 9am another around 11am and one not too long ago she has had two solids during those times but the last one one was very short. and she is quite happy sitting watching swimming on tv..lol
