my girls birthday party is a couple of days before her actual birthday because it falls on a monday ..so we are having her party on the saturday as it will be easier for our family to be there.

The birthday party will most likley only go on for a couple of hours. Im also already accommodating for my sister by having my daughters party before her birthday as my sister wants to go clubbing and cant go until after the 24th November anyway.

I can understand how my sister feels but at the same time I don't want to give in and just let her get her own way.

I LOVED hanging with my family at 17...

I don't think you're being mean by not wanting her to bring a friend. It IS only a couple of hours.

Yep, I'd let her bring a friend. I don't know your sister but I do remember what it's like to be 17 when 'family' get-togethers were not really on the cool list so to speak. At that age, I would have rather spent time with friends than family. And it is her birthday too. Would you rather have a friend at the party or her sulking the whole time? so I'm talking to my sister on MSN and telling her about Megan's first birthday party and she asks if she can bring a friend just for the company.

I said I would talk to my husband but no promises and it is really just a family thing..oh btw she is 17 (her an Megan share the same birthday)

I do want her first birthday party to be family only

I think she will need to learn that she cant always bring a friend with her to family events I mean fair enough if it is her party but this is my daughters birthday. It not as if the party will go on for hours most likely only be a couple of hours.

I am probably being a mean an horrible sister...lol
