fantastic idea weegee! we have a secret private group on FB for September 11 mums to be and its great, totally private, doesnt come up in feeds that we have posted etc and I find Im on fb more than on here etc

Hi hi hi! LF tipped me off that I'd better stick my nose back in here - it's been a month and I've missed a LOT!

CONGRATS Hayzie! So exciting and I can't believe how easily we've all gotten UTD in here. A bit scary to contemplate really.

I still don't know about the #3 thing. I don't really want any more babies but I would love to be pregnant again and desperately want to birth again. Would seriously consider being a surrogate. Really. As long as it wasn't genetically mine in any way. I think DH would take some convincing about that though

I like the sound of the rock climbing party!

KK, FE got it right on the money, I do think you need to be in the right head space to VBAC, and there is absolutely no shame in going elective. But if you have any questions about the VBAC side of things feel free to message me on Facebook - I'm not around here much these days (obviously).

Actually speaking of Facebook... what do people think about maybe starting up a secret group on there and communicating that way? It's not like we really need to be open to newbies, we never get any (for long anyway), we're all FB friends and it's a bit more private. Just some people might object to something else to check, is all...?

Good work on Hayden's TTing. Logan has finally "got it". Whew...undies are heaps easier than nappies.

I am a tiny bit worried about how I will go working and sitting massive exams in a couple of years with 2 kids...just had to get a sibling for themonkey though.

Anna - you sound like you are doing a good job with your Mum. Good to she is helping you.

I'm the opposite Sarah, I have difficult babies and easy-ish toddlers.

Gah I hate daylight savings, it screws everything up! Yawn.

Mum has been here for nearly a week so my days are a bit more eventful but she has been really helpful and great with the girls.

Congrats on the new job Sarah. I like their stuff and I hosted a party on Sunday but hardly anyone came... I don't mind at all if it's not their thing - most of my good friends don't have kids/own homes etc - but it is annoying when people say they'll come and then just don't turn up.

How exciting Kiwikid. That tiredness is so hard though huh?

A friend from coffee group is expecting a third now - I am so not jealous. Well just for the briefest of moments and then I reminded myself of all the reasons why it makes sense to stop at 2. I always imagined myself with more like 4 kids but the reality didn't match up to the idea in my head ;)

It must feel great to be getting more mobile FE

How did Jayden go in daycare last week, Kye?

#3 is it for us, I'm quite just enjoying (coping) with 2, so only 1 more or I'll go barmy. It seems now as they are older it gets harder, I like those babies that just sleep....

I don't know how you guys are doing the whole working thing with kids. I had a meeting last night and today I'm just knackered. The end of daylight savings probably didnt' help Ev's woken up at 5.45 for 3 nights, I can't rememerb whether R just coped with it or if he was waking earlier.

You ladies just pick a date and we'll be there. We didn't end up coming up for the March baby party, so we can come up to my favourite ladies instead.

Be heading up to Pukekohe in the next few weeks, can't remember whether I said in here or not, DH's Gdad has pancreaotic Cancer and is done to his last few days, they though he would be gone by now but he's still holding on. He's in the hospice and Tauranga and the funeral is all planned for in pukekohe.

Wow KK on 5 weeks left. Man these babies arre coming fast. I have a whingey kid too, waaa I want a cuddle waa I'm hungry waaa......

I've never made the lactation cookies. I'm tempted to though.
Miss E has dropped her before bed boob, and only has morning boob now but I feel really empty.

I'm going to make a couple of batchs of the Lactation Cookies to freeze, from what I can tell I could easily reduce the 1 cup of white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar to 1/2 a cup of each without altering the recipe to any great degree - does that sound about right?

And orginal recipe is 2 tbls of LSA but Weegee recommended 4, is that what you guys use?

Big congrats Hayzie, lovely news! Hope your pregnancy is dull and uneventful

Five weeks til due date here, feeling a bit blah TBH but no real reason other than killer heartburn and I seem to be able to manage an hour or two playing / entertaining / chores and then feel absolutely knackered. Ah well not too long to go now. Oh and I have a hideously short fuse with Hayden, last week he was great but fecking hell this week he's a total whingey PITA to be frank, on the upside TT is still going well and I rarely have to remind him to go (only when we are out and I'm nervous, not that he's had any accidents while out but I'm sure the time will come!)

Mum and Dad said they will buy the Ergo for baby girl YAY! I can get it via a friend via the US for around £90 for the carrier and insert which is around $180NZD, fairly good price I think. All the bedding/muslins/NB & 0-3 clothes are all washed and ready to go so pretty much sorted really. Wont be able to sort rooms out until after she is here as Mum and Dad will be in the room we'll transfer Hayden into for the week/s around baby's arrival but then we'll shift him over to the big room. Goodness knows where I'm supposed to change nappies in the middle of the night, might have to set up a change station in the landing at the top of the stairs to the bedrooms LOL

yay FE thats great about the foot! just dont do what I did once and hop in the car forgetting about the moon boot and drive off wondering why you A) cant break and B) arent going very fast cause the accelerater wont work cause you cant push it down

The first weekend around 4th-5th June would be out for me as thats probably Munro my couzins 3rd birthday

I vote SB for the first #3, but that's not much of a stretch - she's the only one I know of who's planning a
third. ;)

I really don't do pregnant gracefully... 24 weeks and still in semi-denial! NOOOO plans for another here, touching every piece of wood I can see (since both #1 & #2 were 'happy surprises').

Rock climbing sounds innnnteresting. I obviously won't be participating but I'm sure Spud will have a blast. The only problem on my end is the end of June is going to be spastically busy - any chance we can try early or mid-June? Not sure if that works for anyone else but throwing it out there.

FX things get easier soon blondy (and Anna). It must be so draining on top of the regular new baby palaver. :(

J has his first full day at DC tomorrow,so that will be good, think he will be fine, he has been at his half days, think it will be good for him, went to pick him up last week, all the kids were having rests and he was sitting at the table eatting by himself! the lady at dc explained that he refused to cook what the chef made them (yes they have a chef!) which was chicken and vege risotto, so the chef had to make sir J a marmite sammy and muffin!!! I was so embarassed! but she said give him a few weeks and he will be eatting what the others eat - moneky!

You're right - googled my two's names and in NZ pages Ohbaby is the first to come up (suppose they're not very common names) ... maybe I should do the same thing. I've tried to be careful not to say too much on here but sometimes I just can't help myself.

Thanks for the birthday wishes - it hasn't been the greatest birthday as S's got a cold and so her sleeping has been very erratic, but it still beats last year's birthday, being in the first trimester and being insanely tired ... and now the kids are in bed I can start reading one of my new books

Blondy, bugger about the night waking, we've had that a bit lately with S's cold, it's hard readjusting to broken sleep again. I found it took longer than the 2 weeks they say it does for the dairy-related symptoms to go away.

I've stopped using my two's names in posts for similar reasons, if I google their names my posts come up. I know its a public forum but I hadn't realised it'd be so easy to find old posts.

Yay for Jacob! 3 hours is impressive. We've got two 45 minutes naps and then a good hour and a half going on here.

K no longer has a day sleep either, if he has one then he faffs about for two hours before going to sleep at night and generally pisses everyone off. I don't like him going to bed sad because he's been told off for getting up all the time.

In other news, I've enrolled him at day care, he goes for one day a week. Starts this Friday and he keeps asking if he can go to school today. LOL same room, ha. It lasted 2 days and I moved them back. Ryan hasn't had an arvo sleep in days, he just plays in there and jumps on his bed. Thinks it's great fun. 

Jacob came home last tuesday, he's completely fine, the feeding is going great he sleeps 3 hrs.....

Glad Lexie's sleep is improving

I changed my username and pics after googling my username and seeing that there was quite a bit of personal info that people could find if they wanted. I did it partly cos I'm not on here so much now, and partly cos I don't like that OB put some posts (with usernames and links) on the front page of the site.

We're doing OK. I'm off crutches, just got the moon boot for at least another fortnight. Still sore, esp if I do too much walking. At least I can carry Ben now.

I'm shattered - think the workload + 4 months of broken nights is really taking its toll. Not sure what the answer is. I'm really hanging out till I hand my thesis in in July. Have fun at Dora, Kye! And 17 weeks - that's gone by so quickly!

Sorry haven't been in for ages, keep meaning to and then get interrupted... We're doing ok, still hanging out for the 3 month mark where things should start getting easier? Lexie's sleep during the day is slowly getting better - we're getting more 1 hour sleeps during the day, and not so many of those awake every 10 minute days, thank goodness! But the night-time sleep has paid the price unfortunately, so back to 3-4 hourly waking at the moment but it won't last forever, and having less exhausting days is a good thing! Dairy-free is going well - so much easier this time, although still disappointed that cafes dont cater more for dairy-free.... at least it's saving money and restricting me to coffees! Lexie's still got some mild eczema on her face but definitely better than it was and her snoring at night has ceased too, so obviously it's making some difference

Nat's being a wee pickle at times. It doesn't help that her carer has just taken on 2 girls younger than Nat, so she's feeling a bit supplanted in all households! Lots of blatant ignoring and purposeful naughtiness but i guess that's a 2.5 year old for you... and she is such a delight the rest of the time getting very close to dropping her arvo nap, which means she's a grumpy mess by dinnertime but is going to bed earlier (actually harder for us atm, as DH doesn't get home from work till 6.30 earliest ).

Anna - has your DH moved onsite with his work yet? Oh Ladies - I feel SO guilty - I have been away from this thread long enough Have been thinking of you all... just not finding enough hours in the day with work, dealing with the girls (and being a solo-Mum at the moment) and all the planning etc I am doing at night. What a major bugger and big ouch Fliss, hope you are managing ok. How did it happen?

Maybe it was just all the excitement Sarah, maybe you need to give them a bit longer in the same room?

We put Sylvie into her own room yesterday. It seems to be working ok (I certainly slept well last night, apparently I slept through her waking at 5am, and she settled herself back to sleep before waking again at 7am)... but we have to be so quiet when she's sleeping as the walls in this house are so thin, you can hear everything, and now she's muchcloser to the busy end of the house.

It's certainly quiet in here and in my other thread, but I'm not helping matters. I am really busy at the moment but I should be able to get on here more often, instead I'm spending most of my spare time obsessing about paints and fabrics etc. I know we're relatively new in this house but I swear there's something about lactating (or post-birth) hormones that makes me decorating mad. I was the same after Clara too, breastfeeding is expensive

Sorry to hear about your Tupperware party not coming off on the weekend (was it?) Sarah. I went to one yesterday and it was fun, although I had to leave early as we had DH's boss and his family over for lunch. They have two boys, a three-year-old and 5-month-old, so almost the same ages as my girls, it was lovely. Clara and Luca are both so similar - so they took a while to warm up to each other - but eventually they had a great time running around together. Did I say that DH's work finally have an office? I think they move in in about two weeks. KK - that's hard. There's no shame if you decide not to try for a VBAC. I think I remember Rach saying you needed to be in a pretty good headspace for it, and if you're stressed about childcare and all that, then that probably wouldn't help (though she's welcome to come and correct me!). I know what it's like to have no family around and realistically, it is something that you have to take into account. Do what's best for *you* and your family. Go Hayden on the TTing

Sarah, your poor sister. What a rough introduction to parenthood . Get her to see the Lactation consultant - there will be one who covers NICU.

Dad's coming up tonight thank goodness. He'll be here for a week which will help. I'm managing with Ben sleeping in his buggy, but it's not ideal for him. Means Dan will need to go back into the cot while Dad's here but he doesn't seem to mind - he'll probably enjoy the novelty. I'll find out about what's going to happen with my foot on Fri. kk what a decision you have to make hun! if it were me I would have an elective cc, I wish I could have one this time around but I have no reason too, but at least you know when babies coming and dont have to go through labour

Anna glad the losec is working and yay for having neighbours for play dates etc!

Ive given up on the tt for now, is in the too hard basket, we really werent getting anywhere, so think I will wait until he is ready

Oh Jayden has his first hour at dc this Friday! they just go for an hour first time, I think he will love it!

Thanks for the info on the matresses, think I will resuse ours for sure, and use my aunts second hand hammock matress, or get a new one and keep that as a spare, sarah where did you get your matresses professionally cleaned? Sarahp yeah he's at Waikato. I don't know who their nurse is. Cool you mum must have the best job, I think those ladies up there are aweome. Yes she's expressing I don't know how often,I just had a few words with some girls in my March thread who had premmies... and they've siad every 3 hours she must express. So have txt my sister. I'm gonig to sound like a right grump.   

*Sniff* Tupperware parties!!! I'm having one next tuesday and most of the people I've invited can't (or don't want to)come. At this rate its going to be my mum MIL and my little sister and maybe my big sis if she's not tied up with Jacob.

Sounds like you are swaying towards an elective KK? If that feels right then just make the decision and you'll feel better once you have a plan in place. Are you still friends with mums from your antenatal class? I'm sure they'd be happy to look after Hayden at a moment's notice.

Got the Losec increased this morning and am already seeing an improvement, yay.

Went over to my neighbour's yesterday. She has a girl just a month older than Clara, and they are so alike and get on so well. Playdates, carpooling, Tupperware parties and street parties - very Desperate Housewives up here - love it though.

COuld you book an Elec c sec for a later date and if you went into labour naturally then not worry about the elec.

Jacob, has 2 collasped lungs, . Which apparently happen quite often and babies mostly heal up within a few days to a week. My sister was just here and she so worried about milk supply and even asked that if need be would i pump for her. I would at a drop of a hat.
Becasue of the gest diabetes J will have a better chance of not getting it if he is BF. So she doesn't want him to go on to formula which I understand but she's just really worried about the BFing.

Things are ticking along here, TT is going really well, makes such a difference when they seem to have their head around the key concepts, i can see we may have an issue when we need to phase out the rewards as Hayden has latched on to the smarties reward system!! We go out in pull ups but wee before we go and he's used the loo at Marks n Spencer, at a restaurant and at playgroup in the past few days, waking up from naps dry too!! Not sure at what point I'll need to be brave and start going out in undies, definitely in undies full time at home now

Nice new alias fliss

Went to get the boy up this morning he was in the nude, had taken off hi spozie, spozie was very light, bed was dry. Not sure if he took it off this morni or during the night. Weird.

Jacob is in NICU. He came out my sister had him on her chest then he went blue and was rushed away. He is having a bit of trouble breathing.  He has tubes every where, and there not sure how long he'll be in there. She hasn't held him since or BF yet she's really not coping. I went in with her on Monday mornign to see him and as soon as he heard her he got all worked up. He really wants his mummy.   Yesterday they had him sedated cause he was beign stubborn and pigheaded (BIL's words) like his mum and not settling etc.

if they haven't increased in number etc over the last few days, it may not be the pox just the fluid-filled blisters thing sounds like them!

We got a new bassinette mattress and got the cot mattress professionally cleaned. That was for K, D got to use the dirty old one from K lol. Actually I did wash the bassinette mattress for her, poor second baby.

We went to a wedding yesterday, D did really well had a sleep in the pushchair at about 5.30 then had a huge meltdown at 7pm, two minute sleep while feeding and she was right as rain. I took her back to the motel at 9 though coz her eyes were hanging out on stalks.

K stayed at the IL's and has just fallen asleep on the chair in front of the tv, tired boy.

I'm getting a new phone - yay!

eta: the cot mattress wasn't really dirty. She'll be sleeping in the cot for the first time tonight after a week of day sleeps in there. I hope she sleeps ok!

Ryan has spots. I'm not sure what they are. They look like pimples about the same size with clear fluid inside them. Only on his arms and a few on his face, its not chicken pox right. Will get him into the doc's tomorrow. He's not scratching them and he's not complaining of them being sore.

Went for  a walk around the lake this mornign and he fell over, poor kiddy has skinned knee's. Lucky I had plasters the bled a heck of a lot.

Kye - We did get a new mattress, but only because Issy was still using hers. Although now on his toddler bed it has Issys mattress. (He is day sleeping in the bed and cot at night).

LOL excited but more sad cause she's one now and I don't want her to not be a baby anymore. We having a family gathering at our place, I wanted to avoid what happened with Ryan's birthday. MIL is already organising me. She asked what food she needed to make etc so I agev her a few things and now she's asking again what else she can do. I feel like they think I'm incapable, imcapable???  I'm such an organised person but yeah.

Not a drama queen Anna. Its good to have things out. Makes you feel better. I think you mms are amazing dealing with NB with refluz, and allergies. I just cope with mine as they are. If I was landed with one like yours I'd be a mess.

Ryan is not impressed that its Evelyns bithday and not his. I hope he'll be ok tomorrow when people turn up with presents.

Sorry for being a bit of a drama queen last night , we are doing ok. This morning was nice, I visited a friend and although Sylvie was her usual unhappy self being able to chat while 'jiggling' her took the boredom out of settling her - I should get out more!

She's on 10mg of Losec a day; as she's 6.5kg that's 1.5mg per kg so according to the COSM website that puts her at about the average dose, about half the maximum she could have.

I'm pleased to hear that Lexie is improving Blondy; I understand your reluctance about the medication as I was like that with Clara, and if you can manage ok with Gaviscon that's great.

We're using the same cot mattress too

The cover is very noisy we always had a blanket between it and the sheet, so that solved the problem. For me it was more about protecting the mattress from spills etc, but you could easily do that with a mattress protector.

And just realised you meant the hammock mattress was used on 6 occasions - i was thinking it had been used through 6 kiddies so I'm sure that would be fine too! I have the same mattress. There isn't much (any) evidence to support Dr Sprott's theory about cot death being due to bacteria in the mattresses; there is more evidence to suggest it's due to the brain not regulating breathing, swallowing and the apnoeic periods correctly. I hated the mattress cover and took it off after two days. Far too noisy for me. Ben's on a 2nd hand hammock mattress. cool thanks Blondy, we purchased a damn exensive matress too! and we are smokefree, although grandad smokes but outside, thats the only smoke Im exposed too, and the dog chewed through the movement monitor cord but luckily dh is a sparky so hopefully he can fix it! or I will be getting another one, it saved my sanity!

Are those covers good blondy? would you recommend I get one for number two?

bummer bubs sleeping probs cant be fixed by meds but glad that her reflux is under control, I so hope this baby is easy not like jayden, makes it hard work ahy, glad to hear shes doing well at night though makes you feel more human with sleep!

Anna - that's really tough with Sylvie being an unhappy camper most of the time
We're only getting maybe 2 bad days a week, and i think that comes down to issues with Lexie's tummy (wind, constipaion) and that she gets overtired so easily... not helped when she wakes every 10 minutes! If i can get a decent morning sleep out of her then generally we're ok for the day. Unfortunately the other day she was overtired and shattered by 11am and then wouldn't feed because she was too tired, but couldn't sleep because she was hungry She's getting much better at night though - going from about 8.30 till 2/3 then through till 6/7, so I'm coping much better with the daytime antics!

Kye, our gp is a bit conservative and reluctant to put her on losec, and while the gaviscon is still helping I'm ok with not pushing the issue. Because Lexie is totally happy lying flat on the ground etc after a feed (which she wasn't before), i think unfortunately some of the crappy sleeping is just that, and much of the screaming is from overtiredness

We will be using the same mattress. It's still covered in the dr sprott plastic bag, and it was a friggin expensive innersprung one, so i don't feel inclined to fork out for another! Remember too that your baby will already be at a low risk of sids because you're a smoke-free household (at least I think so?), you're aware of not sleeping the baby on its tummy for long sleeps and i think you had a movement monitor too? I wouldn't worry for the cot mattress the hammock mattress might be another issue as they're a bit more susceptible to absorbing spills/nappy accidents?

Anna what does of losec is she on? Jayden got up to quite a high does in the end and I know little miss did too, we had to up Jaydens does with the advice of the pead pretty much everytime he had a growth spurt www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz is a great resource if you havent seen it already, talks about meds and doses etc too

Blondy are you still on gavascon? maybe try losec? I remember the pead saying that gavason and meds like that really are just like a thickener but losec etc nutralise the acid and do something else I think? anyway cant remember exactly but there is a difference between the two and he just said losec was the best.

Blondy thats good that your happy with your decision to immunise Nat, Ive been thinking of doing Jayden and youve just reminded me! it is one shot or is it oral? Jayden is the worst scratcher out and gets really itchy, I think he would find the pox really horrible and would probably scar, also I supose if they are vac then they arent going to bring it home to baby either! Maybe I will book him in when I go have the flu vac

On another topic, who ended up getting new matresses for baby number two and who ended up using the same ones? I remember when I was pregnant with jayden using second hand matresses were a no no but now I see that there is no direct evidence to suggest that second hand matresses directly contribute to sids, so Im not sure now! so was wondeirng what you all did for baby number two, did you buy new matresses or use the same ones? also my aunt has a matress from the hammock she may have used 6 times I can have what do you recon? all new matresses will add up, but at the same time I want to do all I can to protect bubs from sids!

I'm totally hearing you, Blondy. I am just taking each awake time as it comes at the moment, I practically count down the minutes till I can put her down to sleep again (I don't know how I would cope if she wasn't sleeping, like Lexie ) ... and she's 3 months' old now so I figure I am half way to six months, which is when it should start getting better?

Grr reflux. When she is not being bothered by it she is such a delight, so incredibly smiley and chatty, and very active, she can't stop moving and yet isn't frustrated by her inability to get very far (unlike Clara was)... but anyway if she was happy the majority of the time instead of miserable I could see why people go cuckoo over babies!

Oh well she's going to be our last baby (excepting any accidents!) so I guess the fact that she is a difficult baby makes the decision easier

She probably needs more losec as she gets worse in the hours before she's due it again. but she is already on a fairly decent dose. I could increase her neocate - she has a bottle in the evenings and at the night feed as it makes her much happier and she doesn't vomit it back up - but I still think the long-term benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the short-term issues.

Anyway, time for bed! With quite a few of our friends having kids with the pox lately, I'm feeling glad we decided to immunise Nat against them.

Crappy day yesterday. babies are such hard work. Can't wait for this newborn phase to be over with! I've decided that people who go mental/lovey-dovey over little babies must have easy ones!

Yeah she only just crawled at 11 months too. Ryan walked at 10months but he was super fast to do everything.
Ugh I don't want all the teeth at once she won't know what to do with them. Her gums are pretty hard she can easily eat steak and with teeth she'll be chomping stuff down so fast.

Bleh, i have a toddler who doens't ave arvo sleeps.
BUT, he does wee's and poo's on the potty and we've had 2 home days in undies (apart from arvo 'sleep' time) and no accidents. He comes running saying wee's on the potty then he'l say 'quick my wee's are coming out'

Evelyn turns 1 on Friday.  She's not walking and has no teeth. Total oposite of her brother.

We're still going to Thomas, its been our motivation to do wees in the big toilet for the last month. I'm really looking forward to it coz I know K is going to love it.

He had a huge tanty today, made himself hysterical, he wanted to stay with MIL istead of coming home for dinner. Kinda hurt my feelings - how silly!

He has also recently become a complete pita to get to bed. He has just worked out how to open his bedroom door so keeps coming out into the lounge. Its taking him two hours to go to sleep with all the messing about. Grrrr

all is well here, we are off camping tomorrow for 4 days, Im hoping to feel better, I had V and D this morning which I thought was possibly a reaction to the 5 wasp stings I got yesterday, but apparently not thank goodness.

I also have to go on low dose asprin for this pregnancy given my history with Jayden

we have gone backwards with Jayden and the TT oh well, will try again soon

Jayden is officially enrolled in DC! starts friday the 18th and I may increase it to two days once he turns 3 and its free or cheaper so thats exciting I think hes going to love it, but the sucker I am has made it my work day so no rest day for me

have fun at thomas everyone, I would so love to be going Jayden would love it - next time

and hope to make it to Rachs, depends on what we have to do around here since we are away this weekend, were away a few weekends ago and have a wedding coming up so weekends to get all the farm jobs done are few and far between at the mo but mmmmm pears! and would so love to catch up with everyone!

Quickly popping my head in, before i head back to bed (if i can!). Doing better here the lower dose of gaviscon seems to be working - enough to keep the reflux under control but not bunging her up.... so we're getting longer day sleeps again, and she's not spending every waking moment screaming which is lovely! I did talk to the GP about ranitidine/losec, but because the gaviscon is working, she thinks going onto the *hard* drugs isn't needed right now. Guess we'll just have to see how it goes, and if the gaviscon becomes less effective, then we'll reassess. Still not getting much sleep at night getting one 3-4 hour sleep, but the rest is 2 hourly (which i know is normal... just tiring )

I was the same Blondy, the 'drifting' you talk about; even though Sylvie was my second refluxy baby and I could spot all the signs, I still thought maybe I was making too much of it and maybe it was wind or her just being a newborn. But the sooner you get onto it the less likely you are to have problems like possibly difficulty feeding or well-entrenched bad sleeping patterns.

Big hugs, I hope you have seen the doctor now and you have some Losec or ranitidine?

Sottise, you feel quite different to the first time mums huh? They're all imagining it will be wonderful - we know better ... I also felt that sense of dread - even though I did want the baby I didn't want to go through it all again. Yet being a second time mum also has it's advantages, as you'll find out

Come home Kiwikid ... nah Sottise is right, you're just entering spring and soon we're going to be super jealous of you as we head into the dark months

I saw Ashley in the Sunday paper Spicey, she's becoming famous

We went up to Te Aroha for a wedding on the weekend and I think I am *just* starting to recover. I'm pleased I went but it was so stressful, the drive and also trying to keep the girls quiet during the ceremony and attempting to settle the girls by myself in the evening while DH was busy with wedding duties. Amelie is still diseased - hard to get used to when we've been lucky so far on the germ avoidance front. Stupid real world and its evil germs! Still considering life with a bubble girl...

In other news, very depressing shopping trip today. Apparently even my go-to source for affordable 'shapely' undergarments doesn't cater for my new size; I had to go up a bust size to get a cup that fits. They're under stern orders not to get any bigger. >.>

Sarah - Nat was the same (although not until a little later)...but I also had to start feeding in a quiet dark room, or making sure when we were out that there was nothing interesting to look at! Blanket etc over your shoulder/her head (as Kye said) could work?

KK - glad you made it home safe! Bummer about the homesickness but as you say, once you're back into the swing of things it may get less? Also as baby #2's appearance draws nearer?

spicey - poos that Jesse's been sick. Yay about the stock etc though!

Thanks for the thoughts guys! Mastitis is much better, and I'm trying to get Lexie latched on better each feed, crazy baby! I keep drifting between wondering if I'm making more out of Lexie's symptoms (maybe she is just an apalling sleeper!), and then we had a day like yesterday where she didn't sleep for more than 10 minutes in a go, and sometimes I couldn't get her to sleep at all between feeds, and the whole day was full of her screaming and then last night it sounded like she was almost choking on the milk coming back up...which makes me think it's definitely reflux! She's been a major grumpy bum too, which makes for some challenging times! She has started doing one 4 hour sleep at night, which is awesome

Anyway, back to the GP this week to see if we can try her on losec. I'm giving her a small amount of gaviscon today, simply because yesterday was so crappy, so hopefully enough to make a tiny difference, but not enough to bung her up!

Sarah, Jayden use to be a nosey feeder (bottle feeder) and I use to have to go into a quiet room if there were people around, can you drape soemthing over her face and your sholder so she cant see whats going on? withoug suffercating her of course haha

Waves to everyone. Haven't been here for ages. Jesse has been sick with the flu for a week now but still full of smiles. Went to waiheke last week for a wedding and Ashley was flower girl. She did well walking down the aisle then after that she was tired and grumpy so no wedding pics with bridal party which is a shame. Was a good nite as the in laws looked after the kids at the place that we rented.
Been watching news which has been so sad. Just makes one think on how life is so short.
My sister arrives next Friday for two weeks. My ride on carry on stock has arrived which I am happy. It was in the newspapers over the weekend and also in womans day so lots of publicity. Lots of enquiries which is awesome.

Ashley has been playing up this last few weeks being abut naughty and doesn't want to listen. Getting a bit more jealous with Jesse too. She has time out but still she is naughty.

Good to hear that everyone is safe.

Sorry to hear about the upset bubba's and tired/sick mamma's - hope everyone feels better super quick xx

So the flight was okay, delayed 2hrs out of AKL so essentially ended up with two 12 hr flights and an hour in the middle in Hong Kong, Hayden slept half of each flight which was better than asleep all of one and awake all of the other and was a bit naughty at times (I swear he knew I couldnt back up my Time Out threat LOL) kicking his tray down every 2 seconds drove me nuts but we all survived, thank goodness there wasnt anyone in the seat in front of him. The guy in the seat in front of me was really lovely as we were disembarking saying that he (Hayden) did extremely well and was even more impressed when we said he'd come direct from Auckland not just Hong Kong to London.

Its been really cold and wet since we arrived, but today is warmish (10 degrees blergh) and we saw a glimpse of blue and some weak sunshine for the first time in 6 days. Actually to be honest I am so homesick I've cried most days and just feeling really really BLAH about everything UK (plus heartbroken over earthquake), I guess it will pass when we get back into activities etc next week but I'm dreading one of us picking up a bug as we've not been exposed to any of the winter ills. Well at least Hayden's jet lag has passed (awake from 1am to 4am for first 4 days) and he is sleeping through the night, I've had to go back to driving him around to get him to fall asleep for a day nap, after three days of him hysterical at being put to bed awake in the day I couldnt cope anymore so back to the wasting of petrol it is - sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

Baby Bump is all good, saw MW yesterday and I'm measuring bang on for dates, I checked my notes for Hayden and it was the next visit 34wks that measured 35wks and then 36wks measured 38wks etc so will be interesting to see if the pattern is followed.

Time to put my feet up and relax for a little while before I wake the boy.

lazy latcher here too, still the same but she seems to be getting enough to gain weight steadily. If I ever managed to get her latched properly she'd just flick my nipple out with her tongue and start sucking on the end - very ouchie! No mastitis here though, luckily.

This sounds awfully familiar.
That's how i had such bad nipple truama and had the breast infections. YAY Kye! I know that feeling, I couldn't really get excited about the pregnancy until the 12-week scan.

Oh damn Blondy. I almost didn't mention the constipation - as some babies don't get it, and I didn't want to worry you - but then there is quite a high chance of it, considering what thickens at one end thickens at the other

I just realised that I have only had mastitis once so far this time, in the first week (when I was so engorged)... hugs blondy, I hope that the abs kick in really soon and hope you find something else that wont bung bubs up, we didnt have a problem with losec granules, the liquid tastes terrible and doesnt work as well apparently, yell out if you want any tips for refluxers, Anna had some good ones that worked for jayden too

I suspect that it's Lexie's fault she's a lazy latcher (never opens her mouth properly), and even if I get her latched properly, she comes off and does it again her way so I'm guessing that's contributing to blocked ducts and/or her not draining the breast properly. I agree that some of our toddlers have been a bit precocious (sp?) on the tt front.... most of my friends with older kids haven't tt'd until maybe 3 yo.

Bad day yesterday (as some of you on fb saw!)... as with Sylvie, the gavsicon totally bunged Lexie up, and she was a miserable wee thing, which meant almost no sleep, so by the end of the day it was a nightmare (which is also when I realised I had the beginnings of mastitis yet again! ). I've been blown away by how quickly the mastitis has come on both times - no lumps or any pain in the morning, and by 5pm I was in agony, and feeling decidedly . Whenever I had it with Nat, it was always a couple of days of lumps/tenderness before anything else kicked in. Crazy.

One (huge) yay is that she took a bottle no worries yesterday

Nat's doing pretty well, but I suspect the new baby honeymoon period is wearing off, and she's starting to play up at times, especially for DH (although I suspect that's because he picks every single battle with her, whereas I'm far more inclined to let the unimportant naughty things slide by ).
