Yup I've had this with Jaymie from about 5 months and she is heaps better now, but still prefers only DH and I and her grandparents and close Aunties & Uncles to hold her - other people get the cold shoulder! My girls went through this as well, it's part of their bonding process with their parents (particularly their mum in the first year). It really upset our parents (the grandparents) too. It seemed to be very much on and off until 18mos or so. Kylah did this from about 4 weeks to about 4 months! Noone could hold her she would scream blue murder, not even my mum could. Made things sooo hard. But she just got over it one day.. It will pass trust me. Thank goodness it will pass! Made 2 family occasions this week really really awkward! I think it doesn't help that Jack hasn't seen his daddy in 2 weeks, and will only see him for 2 days in the next 4 weeks so he's a bit out of sorts.

yip sounds very normal. Ella goes through stages like this and still does. We figured out that she gets really clingy whenever she reaches a major developmental milestone and then a couple weeks later goes back to normal and she is happy for other people to hold/cuddle her. When she is super clingy the only people she will hold her are DH & I- she is happy to smile at other people, but only in the safety of our arms.

Don't worry it will pass...

Spencer went through a stage of this he even started crying when I was holding him and people spoke to him and it also happened around the 5 month mark it coincided with him start waking at night again and at the plunket visit they said it was normal for that age as they go through some developmental changes at 5 months and the seperation anxiety is part of it cos it is only now that they really understand that when they wake up they are alone or that some people are strangers and others they know and are safe with. Just bear with it and soon she will get over it.

Topsy Lauren did this for first 3 months of her life! No one could hold her but me, it drove me insane!! Finally she has outgrown it, but it took a long time for her to trust other people besides me!

Bella has been having a little bit of separation anxiety/cries when someone other than DF or me holds her. Her bottom lip drops and starts crying. She even does it when I hold her but someone is talking to her close up. I hope it dosnt last as it can make social situations a bit stressful for all. Any one had this? How long did it last?

ETA: She used to be happy to go to anyone.
