It really upset our parents (the grandparents) too. It seemed to be very much on and off until 18mos or so. If you just relax and follow her lead, you'll make those situations less stressful for her.]]>

Made 2 family occasions this week really really awkward! Ella goes through stages like this and still does. We figured out that she gets really clingy whenever she reaches a major developmental milestone and then a couple weeks later goes back to normal and she is happy for other people to hold/cuddle her. When she is super clingy the only people she will hold her are DH &amp; I- she is happy to smile at other people, but only in the safety of our arms. </P><P align=left>Don't worry it will pass...</P>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=17969">cuppatea</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 17135<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 12 May 2008 at 8:36am<br /><br />Spencer went through a stage of this he even started crying when I was holding him and people spoke to him and it also happened around the 5 month mark it coincided with him start waking at night again and at the plunket visit they said it was normal for that age as they go through some developmental changes at 5 months and the seperation anxiety is part of it cos it is only now that they really understand that when they wake up they are alone or that some people are strangers and others they know and are safe with. Just bear with it and soon she will get over it. <br />Spencer is now and little weary and reluctant to smile at new people but is fine once he has been around them a bit or with people he sees often, like the ladies from coffee group etc.]]>

Finally she has outgrown it, but it took a long time for her to trust other people besides me!<br /><br />Even some people she is still very skeptical about and won't even look at them!]]>

Her bottom lip drops and starts crying. She even does it when I hold her but someone is talking to her close up. I hope it dosnt last as it can make social situations a bit stressful for all.
