She got her back problem (turned out she had sprained her back and the muscles were swollen) fixed by using painkillers for the worst times and getting acupuncture for general pain relief.

So I've actually bought a biomag woolrest. You can try for 60 days and send it back if you don't like it and they reckon you should notice a difference after using it for two weeks. Well I've been using it for one and suddenly noticed today that it didn't take quite as much effort to get up off the floor with J as it usually does (I too, look and feel like an old woman). Also my regular aches and pains feel a bit better. Early days yet but I'm hopeful that this will continue to provide a bit of relief (not to mention it's really snuggly for winter nights).

In effect an Osteo can do everything a Chrio or Physio can do Plus so much more. They are also able to put you on ACC and you don't need a referral from a doctor

I see a chiro 6 weekly and actually just got ACC for a new injury, so I guess if you can attribute your pain to something new (even though the back issue is a constant thing) you may find you will get covered...

I know you are out of town, but if you want the name of my chiro (who is fabulous btw) then just PM me

Physios not really the way to go in my opinion as they deal more with soft tissue problems. Ask around your friends to get referrals, sometimes that is the best way to go.

Here is a link that tells you a bit about what they do:

http://www.nzhealth.net.nz/healing/osteopath.shtml

You should be able to get your treatments on ACC

    Author: peanut butter
Subject: 17033
Posted: 08 May 2008 at 8:45am

ok, its a leftover thing from pregnancy /childbirth but my lower back is stuffed.

When I am bent over (eg, kneeling down changing a nappy, sitting on ground folding clothes etc) and I stand up, it takes a while before I can even straighten myself up. I walk around like an old woman.

It is constantly achy and if I sleep on my tummy I wake up with it REALLY sore.

Then today I bent to pick Tom up and it REALLY hurt and now it hurts constantly when I move. It would have hurt more except I felt it "going" and put him straight back down.

I felt it was due to a loack of ab strength but when I did my personal trainer session he siad my abs werent "that" bad. thought maybe a tilted pelvis?

My other thought it it could be something like ankylosing spondilitis as I do have inflammatory bowel disease so have the dodgey system.

But my question is....who do you see? A phyiso? osteo? chiro?

What do each do that is different?
