So now I keep them closed for naps during the day, which has definitely helped, although it's still quite light in the room - just a bit dimmer. So she still knows day sleeps from night sleeps, since she can still see everything during the day.]]>

At daycare, the sleep roon has the curtains shut and she sleeps roughly the same amount of time as she does at home so I guess it makes no difference to her]]>

I wanted Jack to be able to sleep anywhere during the day. I remember when my MIL and FIL came to stay and bought my nephew and they had big problems with his day sleeps as he was used to black out curtains being closed and we don't have them. Plus my Mum said to leave the curtains open during the day and Mum's always know best, don't we!?<img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> ]]>

And I was doing the same with Greer, but one day the midwife came and said it was mean so I stopped. But now, two sleeps in a row she's gone down no problem at all and she's not stirring all the time. Must be helping.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=19029">Neeks</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 15957<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 03 April 2008 at 12:03pm<br /><br />I always close the curtains when it's time for K to sleep, so now she knows the difference between play time and sleep time <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> We had major issues with day time sleeping in the beginning because she decided she didn't want to be wrapped anymore, so whenever it came time to move her she'd fling her arms out and wake herself.. but we have started wrapping her for her daytime naps again (one arm out) and it works a charm for settling her down <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> She doesn't get wrapped at night because she goes to bed awake and self soothes plus she's in a Safe T Sleep and the wrap just gets in the way]]>

Sleeps during the day with curtains open and night with shut as I wanted him to know the difference and haven't had any probs. Also wanted him to sleep anywhere so figured leaving blinds open and slept all his day sleeps in the lounge until about 8 weeks would help with that. <br />Now he sleeps anywhere!]]>

My hope is that Liam knows it's time for sleep when he gets wrapped & I take him into his dark room.<br /><br />I did hear somewhere that you should leave them open so that baby learns to sleep in places where it's not dark??? <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> <span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by sally belly</span>]]>

The room is still fairly light though. ]]>
