There is a funny one called Babyhood by Paul Reiser (from Mad About You) can't remember what the other books were called. He also came with me to a parent and child show and got a handful of booklets aimed at dads to be which were really good - particularly one about their role for the first 60 days.

Also check out this site: Fathers to be: how to prepare for the arrival of a newborn

I think the fact that he is worried about what it's going to be like and what he'll be like as a father is a great sign as it shows he's already putting a lot of thought into his new wonderful role.

Good luck.

My DH did the diary of a dad to be while I was preggers and wrote about most of the crap parts he found in pregnancy - including the sex drought lol.

Neither DH nor I come from families where there are lots of kids or babies so it was a steep learning curve for us.. but from DH's point of view the worst parts are the lack of sleep when they are lil (he struggled with this) and having to go back to work (he had a month off in the beginning). He now loves coming home after work and tries to get home on time to see Daniel off to bed and loves the weekends where he gets to spend loads of time with him and watching him grow and his personality emerge more and more. He said no matter how sh*t of a day he's had at work he can come home and automatically smile when he sees Daniel (awwww!)

    Author: T_Rex
Subject: 15868
Posted: 01 April 2008 at 6:53am

DH and I have had "the talk" recently, deciding when we want to TTC. One thing that was difficult for DH is that he really doesn't have any idea what its going to be like. I come from a huge family and had babies all around me as a teenager, so I have some idea of what they mean. Unfortunately children are pretty scarce in DH's extended family and at this stage none of our close friends have kids, so there isn't anywhere for DH to look to find out what kids are really like.
So, I thought I'd ask here. I'd like to know, especially from the dad's point of view, how does life change when you introduce a pregnancy/baby/child? What are the best and worst bits about it? What things do you think it would be useful for someone considering becoming a dad to know?
Thank you so much!

Edited by rhick
