Usually he is in bed at 7pm or just after. So was expecting him to wakre up early for a feed.
He woke at 2.30am for a feed I fed him as I hadn't fed since the night before and had heaps of milk and leaking every where. So he fed well and then woke at 4.30 fed one side and back 2 sleep. Awake for the day at 7.30am.
So i didn't stick to my plan... Thought i couldn't as if i gave him water he wouldn't drink it as milk was dripping everwhere!!!

Have decided to stop night feeding during weekend as have more time and won't be working the next day !!!

If there is no breast on offer he may take that instead, if hes hungry. We sent my mum/DH in for a few nights when Jake got in a bad habit of waking heaps after a sore tum (about 5.5 months, after starting solids). After a few nights he was down to just one feed of only 100mls, which we dropped with a bit of crying - far less than I imagined though - about 20mins the first night, 12mins the second night then he slept through from the 3rd night. Not everyones cup of tea, but I was exhausted! And I knew he didn't really need to be feeding in the night - he was just using me as a comforter.
We also did as someone above suggested, gave him a toy/cuddly which he still uses to self-settle in the night.

I agree with SimoneF too - could you make him hold out for the milk feeds during the day and have a 200ml bottle instead? That may encourage him have a larger last feed so he isn't waking hungry.

Daniel usually wakes at 5am for a feed, I don't especially care about it now because he appears to be starving but I'm slowly dropping the amount he has, and he still sleeps through until wake up time.

I weaned my eldest at that age (from bf) and the 2nd eldest one month prior. They had continued to wake every night and when I weaned, they stopped waking in the night. I'm not sure whether it was comfort/habit or if they were just digesting milk too quick and not having enough food. But since you have tried CIO, the solids intake is probably the next best thing.

And you could try introducing water with meals and milk in between...

ETA: if he's not so keen on formula, skip it entirely and introduce cows milk - with a small amount of milo if he needs convincing!

Edited by busymum

Talks about how they need to self settle and use something other than a feed to get back to sleep (like a cuddly or something). The bit I remember said to choose what you want as his cuddly (eg a muslin) and have it close to you when you feed him, so he'll come to associate it with that nice feeling. And maybe sleep with it under your top a couple of nights. It goes more indepth, so might be worth checking out the website
