The kids play in the playground part initially until the bubble machine starts on the other side which is their call to go over there. We then all sit in a circle and do the hello song and some other songs and actions then they pull out the word for the day (encouraging children to relate written words to objects) then each child gets something from the 'treasure bag' (i.e. if the word of the day is teddy bear you take along you babies teddy bear and when it's pulled out they get it). Then it's time to play in the playground again followed by more songs and actions and the goodbye song.

It's so much fun!

And then we go around the various apparatus, in baby beans it is focused around new sounds/textures and promoting tummy time and learning safe ways to climb down (cos they learn to climb up without help) and roll. Each fortnight they have a new theme as well. So we have done bugs and then a christmas theme and have started back with relationships.

Oh and by the way sitting in a circle and singing is way out of my comfort zone but what they do isn't that bad as it is mostly just doing the actions to the song which is being played on cd player.

Especially now as he is very interactive with all the activities. When younger he just kind of stared at them but didn't get involved much.
Jumping beans are doing classes in North Canterbury now as well (I think at clarkville, but its on their website). Also you can go along for a free try to see if you like it.
Swimming is good as well but you have probably left it too late to book lessons unless you have a pool at amberley. To get a place I am having to go to pioneer at 8.45am (it took me over an hour in traffic to get to it this week), still worth it though.
