Melon is great and cucumber cos they are lovely and soft already. Spencer is now able to demolish piece of raw apple and pear as he has got use to it. I just make sure that I supervise him eating any finger food just in case.

I mean you always worry but I've been using the fresh food feeder and worry that when we move on to real finger food he will break bits off and choke but I also realise that sometime you gotta get used to swallowing bits of food.

I just try to get low salt everything, so signature range do rice crackers that have only small amount of salt and organic rice cakes are good. Things like cruskits/arrowroot biscuits Spencer can't have so haven't looked into those. I don't add salt to cooking anyway but if I did then I would stop once giving to bubs. Could your DH not sprinkle a bit on his dinner if he needs it that much?
If vegemite is high in salt perhaps you can make it a once a week treat for the time being.

He pulls fantastic faces! Just wondering about the salt content. When do you not have to worry about that? If you give them some of your food, do we have to stop adding salt to our cooking (DH would go nuts if that was the case)

Good things to start with are cooked fruits and I also found rice crakers great as they are easy for them to hold and they just go soggy. Spencer did have teeth by then but I don't think they are necessary as they mostly seem to suck on finger food anyway.
A fresh food feeder is good if you baby is in to them, Spencer doesn't like his very much but will use it for ice cubes and water melon.
Hadn't even thought about vegemite, neither me nor DH eat it.
