We use a big black plastic rubbish bin with a lockable lid from the Warehouse. not nappies - but the other week I had to put the rubbish out cos DH forgot (as usual!) and I noticed that there were maggots in a couple of sealed! containers that were at the top of the bag - which had mussel shells in them! The flies somehow got into the 2 containers and laid the eggs and then the maggots came along. So maybe even nappy bins with lids, could still have the same problem!

Iuse liners, which get ditched in the rubbish after every change so there were no really pooey ones, and my bucket has a lid, it's the same bucket I've had since Maya was born from the good ole Warewhare,a proper lidded nappy bucket. I have no idea how they got in the bucket, will have to make sure that the nanny is putting them straight in the bucket after every change and not leaving them sitting around at all.

The funny thing is we have a Robocan so there are usually bugger-all flies in the house. Try plastic box or payless plastics as well.

Emma - eewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor you hun, I think I would have cried and demanded my DH come home from work to deal with it!!

I always rinse my poo ones first and wash every morning so my small unlided nappy bucket does just fine. It's in my double garage which is usually open all day so there's no problem with smells.

I've taken to just throwing them straight in the washing machine...and if they are pooey rnsing straight away.

nappy bucket !!!!
I normally wash every day but with being sick this week I didn't get any done on Tues or Wed. I went to do the washing yesterday and when I pulled the nappies out of the bucket there were MAGGOTS crawling all over them! Eeeeeeew! I almost threw up!
Thank God for Dettol Rinse which they are now all soaking in, and Purell which I cleaned my hands up to the elbows with after handling them.
