I was soooo glad to come home to my decent buggy!

    Author: Rackhell
Subject: 14002
Posted: 06 February 2008 at 10:22pm

I too was seduced by the cuteness of the whole have baby facing me but never again. Had me crying with frustration at it. I had bought a mothers choice one with a reversible handle so that you could have bubs face either toward or away from you. Two were fixed, two were swivel, lockable. I only tested it in the aisles with bubs facing away from me and it went really well, didn't try it the other way, because it should have worked equally as well, right?

Talk about nightmare. With bubs facing me, locking the front wheels meant that I couldn't turn corners easily and aisles were a complete nightmare. Fixed wheels do not make for manoverabillity. I would have to lean on the handle in order to turn or manovere out of peoples way, leaning on the handle in this position also caused the back wheels to skip out from under me and made the pram flex alarmingly if I wasn't extremely careful.

One excursion in a shopping centre with baby facing toward me trying to manovere in the aisles, moving around people, transferring into and out of lift (the handle in this position had way too much movement in it) convinced me that I had made one of the worst purchasing mistakes ever.

I had a devil of a time returning it but managed to get my money back. I possibly had a faulty pram, but I don't think so, it's just the way the balance of the handle was in that position and the fact that not all of the wheels were swivel ones.

Try before you buy, and if you want to have baby facing you opt for all swivel wheels or go with a snap and go baby capsule/base/wheels combo that can be hired.

If its just for walking/running then having a fixed wheel is preferable. But if its for everything incl shopping, then you'll be forever lifting it or tipping it back to get around corners. Is it a three wheel one?

We have a locking mechanism on ours and used it when Kate was little to rock her back and forwards on one spot to try and get her to sleep but thats the only practical use I ever found for it. I would think it would be really impractical- have never heard of a pram with that before!

It has a clip in bassinette for when bubs is little, then is a seat wit 5 point harness, also comes with sleeping bag and matching nappy bag. The handles move up and down for different heights and are reversable so you have have bubs looking at you. I LOVE the pram, BUT it has fixed wheels - that is they don't swivel at all.

Does anyone have a fixed wheel pram? is it hard to use, manouver through shops etc? was dead keen, but am not so sure if its practical. Would hate to buy it then find it too hard to use.

any help would be great!

Thanks!
