Bel, i would freeze my milk and then put it in my baby bag's insulated compartment straight out of the freezer. It takes several hours to thaw in there so i knew i had heaps of time and there would be no chance of it going bad. And then, if i needed to use it before it had completely thawed, i would just run the bottle under water (even cold does the trick). The only problem i found was warming it at the other end, cos you can't heat BM in the microwave .

I used to take it out the fridge as i was going out the door, then store it in an insulated bag with one of those gel ice paks. It is no problem if it is at room temp for a few hours but I just preferred to keep it chilled for as long as possible, like ordinary milk. I just didn't feel comfortable keeping it out of the fridge for that long

Help - I have been expressing a little milk for Luke to give him in the evenings to top him up - it is working really well and means that I can get him down to bed earlier.

We are off to CHCH today and I am just wondering how to travel with EBM? I have a bottle here of EBM, how do I takeit. I just read on the kellymom site that it can stay at room temp for 8-12hrs, is that after it has been refridgerated tho??
