Thanks everyone for the feedback. It certainly gives me an idea of what to expect. It has already been determined by our specialist that we will be going ICSI so now we just play one of the many waiting games ahead. Pretty much everything Noodle. We already had a diagnosis, so it was just a case of determining the fertility treatment. We'd been recommended for IVF, and F+ confirmed that yes, that's what we'd be doing, and that it would be ICSI. We had to see a counsellor, which is compulsary (sp?), met with a specialist and a nurse separately to discuss the treatment etc and then with an embryologist who told us all about what they do, how they do it and why they do it. Emachan, it depends upon the diagnosis. emachan - we jumped the queue vis a vis specialists by paying privately right up until diagnosis which I really recommend (2 visits, which didn't cost too much - less than $200.00 each) and the second visit was the one where it was determined we qualified for public funding, and our application went in within days. ginger - how long did it take after you started fertility plus to get onto the list?

The orientation appt is where you see the nurse who explains the process and gives you a date for treatment, phone numbers etc, you also see a councellor who talks to you about the stresses, emotions etc. You also see a doctor who goes through the whole process again. It took about an hour and a half all up.

When i was accepted for public funding i was allocated to fertility plus. I got the call saying i was accepted in about September 2006, had orientation in November 2006 and was booked in for February 2007 for treatment.

I would go by what the clinic says as they have a better idea, also people cancel (i did, and the receptionist told me that that a couple of others also cancelled in my month) and so others move forward quicker.

Hi Everyone,

We have just been accepted for public funding for IVF treatment in Auckland. I was wondering if anyone knew the waiting time? The clinic said 6-8 months, but then I hear stories of 12-18 months. Any realistic advise would be appreciated.
