I'd say you can use whatever is easier for you. Yep they can still use bottles. Andrew was weaned from a bottle at about 18 odd months and I will do the same with Josh.

yummymummy- I am a bit of an over-organiser. Need to know if it's possible now hehe.

Arabella is most likely going into darecare and I will be gone from 8 - 5 (including travelling time) so depending on how many BFs she is having at 10months I can plan out how it works.

Do they still use bottles then or can you use sipper cup thingys. By that point Jack was only on 3 at the most but he was a solids man and would way prefer solids over boob. Yes you can BF morning and night, and no you shouldn't run out. I am back at work at Caleb is home with DH. His routine is

Wake up, BF, breakfast, short play, long sleep.

Mid to late morning - wake up, play, bottle, lunch, play, bed

Early to mid afternoon - wake up, play, bottle, play, sometimes a sleep

Late afternoon - Mum gets home, BF, dinner, play, BF, bed.

Caleb has 300-400 ml formula a day, some days we meet for lunch and I BF so he only has one bottle. I have been on holiday for two weeks and he's gone back to being pretty much fully BF but he does have food.

I am still bfeeding Alize. I went back to work when he was 8mths and he started having 1 formula bottle with his caregiver and I was gong to bfeed in my lunch break. That turned out to be a waste of time b'cos he wasnt all that interested at that time of the day. So I stopped going and just bfeed morning and night and the rest of the time he has a bottle. On my days off thou he thinks all his christmases have come at once as he is on off all day lol

Gina is just over 10 months now and has 4 bottles (she's on formula) of 260ml each. Sometimes she'll eat the full 260ml, sometimes she'll only have 150ml. You can always go into Plunket rooms or book a check-up with the GP. All of it is free, so if you're worried, go for it!

Busymum how long would Kryssi feed for on the breast (each side) at one feed around 9-10months?

It is a hard business not knowing how much bub is getting when you breastfeed but I believe they take what they need and they let you know when they are full ...either by falling asleep or eventually pushing the breast away! And you can judge by their growth as to whether they are drinking/eating sufficiently!

Sucks that plunket doesn't do regular check ups each month ...instead only like 3 months, 6 months...9ish and one year! By the time 2-3months has gone inbetween each appointment they could have lost a lot of weight! You might not need to give formula at all by that age. I went back to work par time when my second was 9 months old and he used to feed in the am - would go to DC at 9am, drink water and have solids there and would then feed again at am when I picked him up - he would feed more in the evenings but I didn't mind as I missed him all day. I used to leave EBM at DC for him (I used to express while at work), but he never bothered with it.

Lucas still feeds 8-10 times per day....2-3 feeds just at night! Thats with solids .... he's a titty man (haha lets hope that's the ONLY thing he has in common with his father)

The amount of feeds for a 10mo varies depending mostly on when you intend to finish feeding in the end. I have bf my girls for 11 1/2 mos, 10 1/2 mos, and 10mos and at the 10m mark they have been having 2-3 feeds per day. The most important ones at that point are last thing at night and first thing in the morning, and at that age I started introducing cows' milk as the lunch time drink.

With Kryssi at 10mos I was formula feeding her x2 in the day (morning and afternoon) and bf evening and morning, but as my boobs were losing their 'stuffing' it got more sore to feed. That had happened towards the end of the other two girls feeding as well but I thought that was because I was pg with the next baby. So I switched Kryssi right to formula at that time to save the soreness. Arabella will be approx 10 months when I return to my training ( Don't want to go). I would like to continue breastfeeding even if I do have to throw in some formula feeds aswell (I know she may even pick bottle over booby). . Was wondering how much a 10 month old feed? I know she will be on solids as well so does that have any bearing?
